Lions doing well. Series tied at 2-2 with one to play. Win or lose the last game I think they'll be relatively pleased. Quite a few new players involved.

Vince just 21 runs in 4 innings at the top of the order and Parry dropped after one game (I'm sure he'd have played more if the squad was better balanced). They'll have both wished they'd gone home after the full international t20 series. Putting their world t20 chances in the balance at present.

Malan and Dawson the two who've done best out of the series so far.

Yes, Dawid has been pretty impressive, certainly not someone I've ever thought of for International honours.

Always been an attractive enough strokeplayer especially driving through offside. Don't think he'll play T20 cricket for England but has an outside chance of ODI or test. Would have to get past Hales, Roy, Vince and Ali to open in ODI cricket which will take time. Best shot maybe is test in the middle order if they think he has something. Wouldn't be the first left handed, middlesex bloke with SA connections and a modest career record to have a succesful career having come in relatively late.

Overton seems like a right ****.
Probably should say Craig, rather than just Overton as Jamie has done nowt wrong and is bowling well for the Lions.

Yet this entire thing is the kind of PC craziness, that just because he said something horrible and offensive, libtards have jumped on a bandwagon, got annoyed and started calling him bad things too, the hypocrites. Oh wait a minute that argument is ****ing ludicrous. He's clearly a bit of a ****.:( ;

Good choke job by lions incoming. Needed 20 off 21 when Billings was out and Whiteley has messed it up. Now need 11 off 6.

haha superover with the game and series tied at 2-2.

and England win.

If Vince and Billings were playing for one spot for the world t20, this series may have given Billings the edge.

World T20 squad? - Hales, Ali, Root, Morgan, Buttler, Billings, Stokes, Willey, Plunkett, Rashid, Finn, (Roy/Vince, Broad?, Woakes/Jordan/Topley, Parry)

I personally wouldn't bring Broad back (although it's rumoured to be happening). If I did Finn would be dropping out. I'd have Ravi Bopara in there but that won't happen and I can't complain too much given my hate for his ODI play. Parry hasn't really convinced but I think they'll need a 3rd spinner in case the wickets wear over the tournament or injuries. Tredwell or Dawson might be the limited alternatives to Parry.

Yeah strange old time for Vince, really impressed in the real internationals but failing for the Lions, I really hope they pick him obviously, is just better than Roy.

Boyd Rankin joining back up with Ireland. Wonder how that will impact Warwickshire given his past dodgy injury record. On the batting side Hain should gain plenty next year batting in the middle order with Trott and Bell.

Quite a few English players signed up for the Pakistan Super League in February 2016. It clashes with the ENGSA odis and t20s unfortunately for the likes of Jordan, Vince, Billings who have all been signed up for the PSL.

Other English players signed up are Wright, Bopara, Allenby, Malan and KP.

Foster no longer Essex captain for next season.

General thoughts on the England Lions squad ? If there were any FC games would any other players force their way in ?

James Vince (Hampshire) (Captain)
Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire)
Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent)
Sam Billings (Kent)
Joe Clarke (Worcestershire)
Tom Curran (Surrey)
Liam Dawson (Hampshire)
Ben Foakes (Surrey)
Dawid Malan (Middlesex)
Craig Overton (Somerset)
Jamie Overton (Somerset)
Stephen Parry (Lancashire)
Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire)
Toby Roland-Jones (Middlesex)
Tom Westley (Essex)
Ross Whiteley (Worcestershire)

Some weird players picked as normal. I hate how they pick guys who are never in a million years going to be England players like Roland-Jones.

Obviously seen a few of them who have played full international or England u19 but that team is still very developmental in terms of their consistency of performances to say they ready for international cricket.

I asked the question about FC cricket because I was wondering where the likes of Lees, Duckett, Leaning & Hain are with the national selectors ?

Duckett is a potential international class talent with the bat but seems to have the maturity of a kid hitting adolescence at the moment. He won't get selected for anything if he keeps getting in trouble.
Lees had a poor old season and was struggling with his technique but I'd guess is still highly rated.
Leaning had an excellent first half then fell away and looked average the second half. Imo the least chance of playing for England of the 4.
Hain doesn't qualify as English until next year but will probably be on a lions tour next winter if there is a 4 day tour.

I doubt any of them would have toured with the lions this winter if it was a four day tour and all are at least one excellent season away from any chance of playing for the full england team in any format.

It's the top order batsman who have suffered from there being no lions first class tour this winter. Rory Burns and Nick Browne are two who have put together a good couple of seasons who may well have got an opportunity. Scott Borthwick is another who might have got a chance.

Personally I think Westley, Bell-Drummond and Foakes are a long way from playing for England. They're not anywhere near international class at the moment - and I doubt they will make it long term. However I don't really have any problem with their selection because there aren't a whole load of alternatives in the shorter formats.

They are scraping the barrel a little in batting terms but in this instance it's more to do with all the talent promoted to the full 50 over and t20 teams this year and others playing domestic t20s around the world - rather than England being particularly weak in this area. The basis for the batting for the next 5-10 years in ODI Cricket is basically there already - Root, Taylor, Morgan, Buttler, Billings, Stokes, Ali + borderline players like Hales, Roy, Vince. For once with 3 and 1/2 years to go until the next world cup England are in an excellent position in batting terms.... theoretically..... until it all goes wrong in 3 years time...

Hate to go all Scaly, but I find it amazing Borthwick hasn't been selected, forget his legspin for the moment, yet he bats at number 3 in the first division on a testing pitch and he's performed doggedly for two years.

Summed up fairly well. Big years ahead for a couple of them and could be a huge one for Hain as he may jump a few in the queue if he has a good season once he becomes available. If only to nail him down for the future.
