It's a lottery for the batsmen, and no matter how much a batsman applies himself, he'll get a ball that he can't play.
The toss is far too important and, frankly, its boring.
A draw on the fifth afternoon, with the batting team 8 wickets down, and 30 needed to win, is far more exciting than teams being skittled for under 250 in every innings.

doesn't look a lottery pitch to me. looks a 200-250 v 200-250. no different to 500 v 500 (except you get a result in this version).
granted if true part timers were as deadly as ashwin it would be dumb because pitches should at least allow the best of a player type to shine, but this is fun.
