I was actually meant to be in Adelaide for Days 2-4 of this game and was considering going early and catching Day 1. Fell through though. :(

Yeah I remember Patto had to remodel his action in the 2014 off season. I haven't seen him bowl a lot with it actually, just a few Big Bash games last year. I'd probably pick him for Adelaide. Bit of a gamble, but I'd also pick Siddle to do all the cliches and you've got five bowlers.

He's a lot skiddier now, whipper at the crease. Looks less relaxed than he did, but also looks less likely to get a back injury. Should really try to emulate Harris, given the similarities.

I reckon they'll end up resting Haze and going Starc-Siddle-Pattinson-Lyon.

Can't believe Marsh is getting a recall. Australia already have one failing consistently to score runs. I'd rather they have just picked Faulkner or Maxwell than Marsh; and they're not even particularly good options. Can only imagine Burns is opening for the foreseeable future if Bancroft was overlooked.

NZ bowling average tracker: 25 FC wickets at 89.72, 24 Test wicket at the slightly better 72.67

Next target: Farveez Maharoof, the Sri Lankan medium-fast bowling allrounder who ended with 25 Test wickets at 65.24

We had some inter squad match under lights in the Tron.

We also get a tour match under lights at the wacca
Cool. Hopefully there's some movement around to offset the usual road served up. I know they are saying more grass will be on the pitch to help the ball wear but I still expect it to be very flat.

God Australian cricket's insipid these days. Our pitches, our test team, our state teams, our selections, our scheduling. The whole unsightly shebang.

The highlight of this summer is Kane Williamson.

Yeah, not like we have two of the best batsmen in the world or easily the world's fastest bowler playing for us or anything.

Yeah, this.

Not sure if some fans expect a new Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Ponting etc to come through every 5 years or so.

Australia serves up the worst of roads these days..

The other day I was checking the average 1st innings score in various countries in the past 10 years...The world-wide average was around 350...All the countries had around 300-370 (India was 2nd with 370 IIRC)...and Australia 420+!

Yeah that's really it. These two sides - if fully fit - should put up some really good, contested cricket but the pitches for the last year have just been dreadful.

It's not much surprise we get dicked when the ball moves two inches sideways either off pace bowlers or spinners when these are the tracks we play on.
