There was some talk in this thread a few days back about the Barry Richards 329 in a day here against McKenzie and Lillee. Apparently he played and missed at his first ball of that day and Rod Marsh said loudly "I thought this bloke was supposed to be able to bat a bit". When Lillee bowled the last ball of the day to him and he danced down the deck and hit it on the full into the sight screen, John Invererity apparently turned to Marsh and said wtte of "I think he goes OK Bacchus"

conversations dont usually have an 8 hour gap between them. maybe if he hit a six the next ball after marsh said that but not at the end of the day. marsh would have just been like 'huh?'

If I'd seen Lille and McKenzie go for 329 in one day from on bloke's bat I'd probably be "huh" no matter what was said to me

TBF he was pretty gun yesterday. Best sustained performance of his test career I'd have thought, yet he's got pretty meh figures for it.

Don't disagree at all. One of the best spells of bowling I've seen. It was right up there (well better) with the amount of times Southee has bowled well, been threatening, but had no luck wrt getting a wicket from the spell.

That's what annoys me. If you get down to Taylor and Southee fine, have a dash, but it wasn't out of the equation that Taylor and Craig could've batted over an hour and added serious runs.

Every run NZ gets ahead is one they don't have to score batting last on a cracking pitch on day 5, plus it minimises the chance of losing.

Well gotta be prepared to lose to win and what not, can't be sure Craig earned the right to be aggressive though.
