not really. I've never heard of a physio actually fixing a real back injury. Sometimes they'll click it, which makes you feel better temporarily. Or give you a massage or some ultrasound, which again just makes you feel better. But if you have an actual injury? nah, I don't think there's anything they can do.
Yeah but who's to say Southee's issue isn't just a sore back as opposed to a major injury?

I haven't really paid full attention btw, do we know what's actually wrong with him?

I am probably doing him an injustice as I have only seen him play here and in England but he barely looks fc standard

The Australians have obviously gone after him but he hasn't helped himself by being incredibly inaccurate for a finger spinner
He's ok when New Zealand are on top or pushing for a win, as he actually turns it quite a bit and batsmen are too defensive minded to put away his rubbish. But in situations where New Zealand need someone to play a holding role while Southee and Boult have a rest he's useless.

Tbh Southee probably just fled to the change rooms because he had a call from Cairnsy

Too inconsistent to be a decent test bowler.. If he couldn't bat the knives would have been out a couple series ago.

I'd prefer Sodhi, but he is still developing. Wanting to see him dominate domestics this year and take Craigs spot by the end of the year. He has more talent with the bat too.

Did I see Milne in the Black Caps camp?

fair enough but in that case you may as well employ his mrs to give him a blowjob or something...

No idea what's actually wrong with him.

Sodhi's just finished being thoroughly outbowled by Todd Astle in the recent NZA v SLA series, so I'd say he's a fair way down the pecking order at this point.

Milne wasn't named in the squad, and it's been explicitly stated by Hesson that he isn't up to test cricket yet so I'd be surprised if you did.

With all that said I'm not trying to criticise physios or anything, I just think their role is overstated in terms of what the public thinks they can do. They can't just give Southee a rub down and fix him if he's actually injured.

The work they're doing really is diagnosing the issue and deciding if he should continue, and if the answer is yes, how best to manage the overs/pain through the rest of the match or series.

There are a few things they can do to speed up the recovery too, but yea mostly agree with Hendrix. If he's hurt he's hurt. Humans aren't machines that can undergo quick repairs and replacements when they break down.

Southee's injury, the New Zealand team management have confirmed, is an "irritated lower disc in his back".

Oh ****.

Yeah I know that.. Sodhi has age, height and bounce over Astle, which would likely be more effective in Oz. Tastle is more flat, or loopy when he throws it up.

Wagner should be there over Milne for sure. He didnt play yesterday, so he's probably just injured.

He is injured (he has shin splints). But he's also not in Australia.

Sodhi would get smashed. Stop it. So would jeets. Guess what mark craig was doing while jeets was bowling to county hacks like john flofflebottom, keith turnip and bill smith?

Winning tests in between the filth, something jeets never did because he was **** and if you let craig loose in county cricket he'd do the same plus bat at #6 for the right county. Jesse ****ing ryder was a strike bowler there ffs

There is an, often understated IMO, quality gap between the divisions tbf. Some pretty decent batting lineups have struggled v Jeets. The conditions suit him much more mind.

Jesse Ryder is a strike bowler on a goats paddock in the middle of rural essex in the cesspool of mediocrity that is the 2nd division of county cricket.

As for Mark Craig, he actually had an aborted brush with County Cricket in 2014. Played 1 game for Gloucestershire, which went more or less exactly as you'd expect (2/100 at about 4.5 rpo), before never being selected again. So yeah, um, you're talking bollocks.
