We need to bowl Latham - in wicket taking form.

I feel sorry for all those drought-stricken Queensland farmers - hopefully in the next four days they'll get plenty of rain.

On the cricket, looking around for a few positives this morning and one is that it's damp so don't think the pitch will quicken up much. That would favour the Aus bowlers.

Nah, I'm pretty numb to getting smashed in Australia and had fairly low expectations for this series anyway. If we lose to this bunch of hometown heroes next year though, then it'll be time to dust off the D&G thread.

With that said a capitulation that allows a follow on option would be series over with Perth up next.

To be honest, it's not the scoreboard pressure that worries me. It's a brand new rock with two left-armers bowling 150 clicks under armpits and swinging back (Starc at least) into poles. That's ignoring that Hazelwood is exactly the sort of bowler that will trouble Guptill and Williamson in particular with line and bounce. Those guys have been sitting with their feet up for a day and a half, and will be itching to get out there.

Agree with the Perth comment and also that if we can score 500 in reply to 600 or whatever, that to me is as good as honours even under that sort of pressure.

While Latham and KW will have been running dozens of kilometres in 30 degree heat and 75% humidity. Yeah, it's gonna be a tough night for the top order all right. My only question is when Oz will declare. They've progressed so rapidly that they could easily pass 600 before tea.

Exactly right. It's mental fatigue as well, while the bowlers are sitting up in the viewing room chopping coffees and talking match sticks. They come out absolutely firing for a session - which is the time frame I see it being as well - with the knowledge they only have to bowl 25 as an allotment and 7-8 each at the most, then rest up and get another crack with a reasonably new ball in the morning.

Test cricket is a brutal one sometimes but that's what makes it so gripping. Australia will enjoy every advantage that they've earned

Completely agree with the last three posts. Extremely difficult period of batting tonight and tomorrow morning. If we can survive to lunch tomorrow no more than 3 down then we should make a decent fist of the innings, however equally could see us rolled for 200 during that period.
