**Official** Pakistan and England in the UAE 2015/16

There was big pressure on Taylor when he came in as they had just lost Cook and Root add to that Stokes unlikely to bat and Bell not scoring,, to come in and score so freely and play the best spinner in the world so well was great it reminded me of Root during the summer making everyone else look like they are playing on a different wicket.

Where the **** has James Taylor been?

How did Jonny B keep?
Well, took a sharp chance off Patel and made no errors I can remember.

Bairstow + Taylor a superb partnership, but Taylor should have been in side for quite some time. Good chance we don't lose 2nd test with him in side.

Sounds like a fine partnership from these two, and a gem of a test match in prospect. But we need a decent lead. Chasing almost anything above 100 could be very tricky indeed by Day 4.

Pleased for Taylor. Don't get the hate for Bells innings. Bairstow good but his technique will be tested more in SA.

Really top partnership now, Taylor showing why he should have been included from Day 1 of series.
I mean it's some real incompetence of whoever has selected the teams for this series. It's nothing to do with hindsight. There were plenty of people who could see that Taylor was well suited to the conditions. I myself suggested he was the 3rd best bat after Cook and Root in these conditions - On the basis of this performance you'd say he was as impressive as either of those against spin. Complete incompetence. Chances are England would have been pushing for a series victory rather than a draw if they'd selected Taylor based on his performance today.

Throughout the series the selectors have made the easy call rather than the tough one. Don't know who of the batsman to drop, don't drop any of them. If Bairstow was capable of keeping for this game why didn't he start the series? Ali wants to open and press supportive of decision, sure lets select as opener. Complete ****tards.

Can't see Taylor averaging more than 25 in SA though. Still poor against seam and definitely shouldn't be any higher than 5 in the batting order.

A player who hasn't been picked for 3 years, comes back into the side and scores a vital half century when everyone else around him had perished. Love test cricket for such moments.

Great stand it seems.

Shame we couldn't get a lead before the end of the day. I don't know why that would matter to me but it does.

Bairstow is quietly having a cracking game.

Agree, he was 3rd batsmen in team for me as well after the two obvious guns. Every team I suggested had him in somewhere, it is ****ing basic selection for them. He even got big runs in warm up games ffs.

I am far more hopeful that Taylor will be a success long term, I see him as a bloke who can average in the 40s @ 5 or 6 for a good few years. Bairstow at 7 as well is really good position for him.

In South Africa:

Cook, Hales, Bell, Root, Taylor, Stokes, Bairstow, Rashid, Wood, Broad, Anderson has a nice balance to it if Stokes is fit.
