Nice day for cricket at the MCG today. Not a cloud in the sky, warm but not hot. Typical Melbourne weather
Pattinson and Hastings got some movement out of the new ball but Buens and Henry played defensively against them
Siddle was first change, ran in hard.
Burns hit Ahmed for 3,2,&4 and then got bowled.
Maxwell also got hit around so it seems that the pink ball doesn't spin that well
Henry and Labuschagne chased the runs before and after supper. Henry hitting Maxwell for the only 6 of the day.
Siddle bowled 11 overs up till supper and then bowled his last 5 at the end of the day against Wildermouth and Reardon who weren't looking to score runs, so his figures flatter him a bit. He will probably get a few more overs in tomorrow.
Pattinson was impressive but Hastings did the bulk of the work and was the bowler of the day.
Henry was solid all day.
Didnt have a problem seeing the pink ball at anytime during the day, it showed up very well on the scoreboard screen for the replays. Only brief one discussion between Hastings, Quiney and Siddle with an umpire about the ball just after supper.
Highlight of the day was answering questions from 3 americans who just called in for a look at a game of cricket for an hour or so, about how the game was played and what the rules were.
