Worst since the last time Dhoni decided to tell the bowlers to bowl 6 half trackers an over? Yes.OS, Daemon, Pratters - thoughts on this being up there with some of the dumbest cricket India have played for a while. Not necessarily worst but just strategically stupid decisions?
Dont think SA are gonna give us enough bad balls for that to work tbh.I don't get this attitude and people said it about WI vs. NZ. You realise just 2 hours ago Saffers showed you can score fast in the first 10 without batting like idiots. Like the perfect example of how to score 400 (i.e. bat well early, punish the bad balls, but keep wickets in hand) was just on display. Just copy it.
400 is a whole other beast batting second though, you HAVE to go full tilt from the start, because when you require 300 odd runs at 15 rpo, you basically have no chance.I don't get this attitude and people said it about WI vs. NZ. But in terms of the whole idea of being dumb, I am mainly talking about our bowlers.
Yeah but Saffers should have probably won the second. As far as the series is concerned India have no one but themselves to blame, should have won the 3rd ODI easily.
That's a strawman. I didn't say let it get to 15 rpo. I said punish the bad balls and go at 6.5-7 early.400 is a whole other beast batting second though, you HAVE to go full tilt from the start, because when you require 300 odd runs at 15 rpo, you basically have no chance.
I am with you on your feelings about the bowlers though.
Yeah but India should have won the first ;PYeah but Saffers should have probably won the second.
There is only one over out of the first ten Lanka dis not score a boundary, they were going at about 7 rpo at that stage. That's a strawman. I didn't say let it get to 15 rpo. I said punish the bad balls and go at 6.5-7 early.
In terms of how to chase a big score, this game is a pretty good example - 1st ODI: India v Sri Lanka at Rajkot, Dec 15, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
Lanka didn't get across the line in the end because they choked but this was close to the way you go about chasing 400 in modern cricket imo. They were 0-50 after 7.2 overs, but got set.
Yeah I get that, that is true. But I think charging and swinging blindly is unnecessary when the bowlers were giving you bad balls. There is only one over out of the first ten Lanka dis not score a boundary, they were going at about 7 rpo at that stage.
When Rohit got out India were going at a mere 5rpo.
Sure they do not have to start at 9 or 10 rpo, but should at least be going at a run a ball.
van der Wath WAGSmith talking about the 434 chase is glorious. What a man. What an innings.
He's now brought up the Ntini single. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
