I think he made it quite clear when he missed that compulsory training camp last year...I know WICB is in shambles and gets a lot of hate.. and rightfully so at times..but in this matter.. you also have to consider how much Narine even wants to play for WI. It's not fair to just blame on side.
Whether NZ fans would have wanted it is a moot point, because the the decision of the coach and NZCB enabled them to win the series and maintain winning ways across all series. Of course in a ideal world they probably should have come for those warm-up games, but I believe you will appreciate the cricket world dynamics is far from perfect regarding how T20 leagues are concerned.Ask the NZ fans that if they wanted their players to be playing in IPL and arriving for a test before two days or they would prefer them having with the team from the set go and play those warm ups. I would say all of the fans would want the latter. As I said, you can still perform by doing such things but I am just not a big fan of this idea. So I stand by WICB for that decision.

The bottom 7 nations are in no position to fight their players who are IPL regulars and pragmatic choice is the allow them to go, so NZ have set a perfect example.
Unless the Big 3 sets IPL at time of the year that doesn't always affect teams international schedule or just totally revamp it to better suit the needs of world cricket - this is the reality teams face now disgustingly.
Its amusing that you can accept these things obviously make teams perform yet still stand by WICB for their decision.
Its the WICB that have a proven track record of failure to find balance in these ituations. This is why the Caribbean Court of Justice awarded every single lawsuit case in favour of the WI players association in the 2000s against the WICB.That is why I said, "balance" being the key
You are against big 3 and yet at the same time applauding NZ board to allow their players to participate in the league apparently governed by big 3 despite a tough test series looming? Fail. The bottom 7 nations are in no position to fight their players who are IPL regulars and pragmatic choice is to allow them to go, so NZ have set a perfect example.

Indeed. NZCB who can't pay their players anything remotely similar to IPL - should kick up a fight with McCullum, Southee, Boult, Taylor, Anderson & demand they get their buts to NZ with no compromise over their IPL contracts and simply risk team stability as the WICB does with the Windies. You are against big 3 and yet at the same time applauding NZ board to allow their players to participate in the league apparently governed by big 3 despite a tough test series looming? Let's rewind a bit. You have made a comment that it was only WICB that was at fault and no evidence that Narine did not want to play for WI. I provided you an instance in which clearly WI provided a choice to Narine (fairly to my view). Narine rejected that. Then it was YOU who brought NZ into the discussion and tried to argue from NZ perspective; I said I am not fan of this idea when players have to join their team in so much less time left for preparation, tbh it does not matter whether that was NZ or Australia or whoever. It's simply the idea. Thats why I wrote about balance in the first post. I am not saying boards should straight up reject them from playing a league when so much money is at stake. It's perfectly fine. Also I think IPL teams when they are buying a player, it's in their knowledge that players might take break in the first, middle or last part of the tourney due to international duties. Many players have left and come. The grumpy bloke from fine leg aka captaingrumpy (chief advisor of macro SR revolution) aka YOU brought Big 3 into the matter. So I responded to you by your own logic.Indeed. Clearly this failure of pragmatism and use of common sense to the realities of world cricket according to AndyZaltzHair from Dhaka is the way to go. You could be onto something, if more teams follow NZCB failed logic they might start winning cricket matches? Well done what a discovery!
The "Big 3" does not govern the IPL. Just the BCCI.
Narine rejected the option of arriving for the opening day or the camp because it clashed with the IPL final date. He did not reject playing for the West Indies, since he wanted to play the test series and simply requested to arrive for camp after the final. Its the WICB that did not want to compromise on that, so how can that be considered fair?Let's rewind a bit. Exactly because NZ showed up their stupidity, if they can allow their captain & other few key members of the team to miss two warm-up games which no issue & they end up winning the series - the WICB hard stance to not consider Narine for the ENTIRE test series just because of their failure to compromise. Then it was YOU who brought NZ into the discussion and tried to argue from NZ perspective;/
I've also said I'm not a fan of it either - but i understand boards of weak 7 nations have no choice but to compromise unless BCCI plays IPL at the time of the year that doesn't clash with international tours of other nations. I mentioned the "Big 3" since they are the power brokers of the new ICC dumb structure & they need to address this pressing situation as global leaders of the sport.I said I am not fan of this idea when players have to join their team in so much less time left for preparation, tbh it does not matter whether that was NZ or Australia or whoever. Look I can understand from your point of view that what difference would it make if he delayed his arrival; its IPL final and the team needed him; Narine had been playing the whole IPL etc etc. But you have to understand from west Indies cricket board's point of view too sometimes. You can't simply blame them like that for what's appearing to you as hard and fast rule. The deadline was initially May 22. WICB moved it further to Jun 1 to accommodate him. So they did make exception. They also made an exception for Gayle too in 2009.Narine rejected the option of arriving for the opening day or the camp because it clashed with the IPL final date. He did not reject playing for the West Indies, since he wanted to play the test series and simply requested to arrive for camp after the final. How is it that you are failing to understand this very straightforward dynamic my friend?

IPL teams & other T20 leagues regularly sign players for short term in negotiation with boards who give them NOC (No objection certificates) depending on if they have international series clashes. This is common knowledge grumpy bloke from long leg aka captain misinformed of iplvsplayervsboard dymaics (chief advisor of incorrect West Indies cricket problems) aka YOU.
I am not in support of WICB by any means. As Pratters already mentioned to you not to make such blank statements. Everyone knows how WICB is renowned for mistreating players and don't get me wrong, I am not disagreeing with this as you are trying to put words on me. Regarding this issue it's the last post and sorry to everyone for derailing a tour thread.Chris Gayle, then captain, applied for an extension to play one more match for his franchise team in the IPL, held that year in South Africa. The WICB acceded to the request and Gayle arrived in London two days before the Lord's Test, leading to widespread criticism of the decision.

As it stands, the IPL is incredibly profitable for the BCCI in spite of the fact that it conflicts with the English season and Australian off-season test tours > many of those countries' best players being unavailable for the IPLWhether NZ fans would have wanted it is a moot point, because the the decision of the coach and NZCB enabled them to win the series and maintain winning ways across all series. Match context big one or general big one? If he gets to 80 it is going to look good.Really hope Braithwaite gets a big one here.
