**Official** Pakistan and England in the UAE 2015/16

A lot of people online and in the commentary are comparing with the Australia and New Zealand test matches last year. But as much as the pitch here is much flatter, another point to note is the fact that Cook and Root are able to match the patience game played by YK, Azhar, Misbah and Shafiq in these conditions in a way that the likes of Warner, Smith, Maxwell, Clarke were unable to. There were moments in the game when Australia looked like having a partnership only to throw it away. This is something that Cook is unlikely to do.
And they had Yasir Shah that time.

I wonder, if England are still batting at tea, might the captains try to set up a run chase?

Don't think it has happened in a Test since Cronje though

Junaid's always been more of a seamer than a swing bowler even when he was bowling well. Only really gets it to go in the air when all the moons align.

Junaid hasn't swung the ball like that in ages.
Guy has only played 2 series.

He bowled brilliantly in Sri Lanka last year to grab 5 wickets before getting injured and missing Australia and NZ tests.

Since then he just bowled in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and looked off rhythm.

Hardly 'ages'

That's Root's 14th test 50, his 8 tons mysteriously expunged from the record solely for the purposes of that statistic #OSbait

I have to go into Uni at Lunch. Cook better get his double before that. Extended first session should do the trick.

For all the talk about how Cook makes huge scores, two double tons out of 28 centuries isn't exactly a lot. Hasn't got one for over 2 years. Needs to go big.
A lot of that stat is down to his first 3-4 years in Test cricket, for ages his high score was something poor like 120.
