In that case, I'd like to give one third of my thanks to India for setting up the Big 3 :p and keeping all the 4 and 5 match test series amongst themselves

Australia actually lost 3 series at home in the same time

South Africa lost 2

India lost 1

England lost 2

Am I missing something? Australia only lost to Eng and SA at home, and SA only to Aus once in 2013-14

Whatever, my point was made

Yeah the UAE being Pakistan's fortress might be a bit overstated

Btw I do agree with you that Pakistan would most definitely have lost the SA series in 2013 had it been a 3 match series.

His argument is beyond nonsensical,

Australian played India in the WC semi final in Sydney as if it was being played in India.

And the Australian crowd is going to show up for England vs Pakistan?

What bollocks.

The attendance could have been improved had it started on a Thursday which is the start of the weekend in UAE and that would have allowed the immigrant workers to turn up.

LOL @ Pakistan getting excessive home advantage. This coming after England rolled Australia for 60 runs at home. Well played Vaughan.

I watch more test cricket in the UAE that is healthy, and yeah I want crowds their, but its always going to be like this in the UAE. Its easy to forget Pakistan are still playing away from home, and so many people work during the week and find it hard to get those days off, its bloody warm as well and tough to get to.

Their will be good atmosphere on Thursday, Friday especially and Saturday assuming Pakistan are still competitive.

Aye the excessive home advantage is absurd, Clarke was rightfully ridiculed for crying after the Ashes about the English pitches, you think Vaughan would have a little more sense.

Haven't read it but Vaughan is an idiot. Like Warne you just have to ignore them even though occcasionally they say something worth listening to.

The one thing I reckon England staff and players have done well in the last few years is when overseas they haven't complained about conditions. They've just got on with it and tried to adapt to the conditions. There's a few teams you definitely can't say that about.

I'm not sure if they're going to open with Azhar. Misbah and the team management seem to be quite firm on him batting at 3. If anything, they might push Malik to open but let's see.

I read a piece today that given Malik's clout, a few failures from Shafiq and you Malik will permanently replace him.
That would be a massive shame. Misbah will be gone very soon and Younis probably has at best another 18 months in him, so Shafiq along with Azhar will be crucial in the next few years. They have stuck with Shafiq over the years even when out of form, so I'd reckon Malik after this series will replace Misbah in the middle order.
Lol PakPassion thinks Shafiq should be dropped as well

Drop Asad Shafiq from Test XI when Azhar Ali comes back?

It's amazing how Pakistanis manage to reserve their hatred for some of their very best. I'm a massive Shafiq fan and he's played some top innnings for them. Dropping him would be braindead. Hope it happens.

Think the issue for some is their judgement of Shafiq is clouded due to his continual selection in ODI cricket a format where he is hopeless in which is unfair on him sadly.

He averages 60 in the last 12 months, unless he has a has an absolute horror series, their shouldn't be any questions about his spot.

But its Pakpassion, and you will get plenty of posters asking for Azhar to be binned because he doesn't score fast enough.

It was a road, but there was big turn for Rashid. Yasir would've loved this on day4 and 5.
Yeah but the question is if xulfi B is going to love this or not?

Interestingly the English spinners were very expensive and their pacers quite economical

Ya Pakistan targeted Rashid when he came on with semi-new ball. Moeen doesn't turn the ball much. But Rashid's last spell saw some good turn for day 1.

Last thing I saw before I left work was Bell's first drop, thought the day would turn out worse than it actually did.

The pity is, no one is going to replace him at second slip until he retires or until his clearly magnificent form in training dies off.
