Terrible news. Well done Hants, a great win for them.

At least there's one good thing to come out of this week: the knowledge that David Cameron ****ed a dead pig's head.

Sums up our season, batting letting us down badly. Very poor overall.

Sam Curran is an unbelievably good talent.

Happy for Pothas and sad for Z. I like both these teams

Having just paid attention to the second division for the first time this year I discovered Surrey and Lancashire have been promoted, making the 2016 championship considerably more dire than 2015

I would've liked all of Somerset, Hampshire and Sussex to stay up. Shame. Hopefully it's Sussex up Surrey down next year.

Sussex should go straight back up. Going down might help them to blood a youngster or two and get them settled. They've struggled to bring through much in terms of home grown youth in the last few years. Likes of Joyce, Wright(who has had a good few years in championship cricket), Jordan, Magoffin, Brown, Nash is a solid core. Need a spinner though if they get back in div 1.

Other likely promotion candidate is up in the air. Wouldn't say any other team is that strong.

Lancs to go straight back down. Having Prince get them back up and retiring again is pretty baffling if you ask me and leaves them very underprepared in batting and bowling. Horton leaving as well suggests they may have one or two bats lined up. Maybe Westley to wind up Heath. They need a good signing or two and overseas player.

Other relegation spot less clear but Hampshire will be better off for staying up this year and with Topley and Edwards available from the start they should have a bit more bite in the bowling.

Hard to look past yorkshire again for the championship. So many solid players. Notts maybe the most likeliest challengers as they've developed a real good set of fast bowlers to compliment the talented batting.

Be interesting to see where a few players are moving on to now. Footitt, Fuller, Pettini are just some of the names I've heard or read this week who are out of contract and possibly moving on.

I see on the BBC sport homepage you can send in nominations for Young Sports Personality of the Year. It might be an idea to get a few of us to nominate Sam Curran. Be good to see a cricketer on the shortlist and he has made some start to his career.

Young Hameed seems to be the business so not quite so concerned about losing Horts - and we'll win both Roses matches, and with the Martlets relegation that's two certain defeats removed from the fixture list, so feeling a tad more optimistic now

The points difference between Yorkshire and second placed Middlesex (68) was greater than the points difference between Middesex and bottom placed Worcestershire (67). If that is not an illustration of complete and total dominance, I don't know what is.

Always depressing the final day of the season, another Summer gone, *insert obvious maudlin bollox about about mortality*.

I dunno about Somerset, it's really odd the idea of us having about 10 similar-ish players vying for about 3 or 4 spots, with no depth elsewhere, didn't work this year.

Thomas and Dibble gone, as is Dockrell. Disappointed about George, but Leach looks a better option in the Championship and Waller is solid in one-day stuff. This frees up room for a useless overseas spinner.

Who knows, there's the makings of an half-decent side, but if Abell has a bad sophomoric season, and Tres shows his age, we'll be a one man batting team next year. So it would be nice if our overseas player was a batsman who could play all year, like Klinger, and we brought in anothe couple. I think we've enough seaming all-rounders though thanks all the same.

Obviously a few exciting prospects around, the Curran's, Coverton, Abell, Hameed, K-cadmore, Clarke, Fell, Duckett, Stone, Miles, Lilley, Crane, Lawrence, B-Drummond. I really only name all those names because this is the time to celebrate them before most of them become apart of the depressing under-achievers of county cricket.
