Damn this is interesting stuff. Could be a nail biter to the end for Sussex and Hampshire fans.

Seems anytime Broad turns up for Notts they lose.

Don't think there is anything obviously outstanding about Tom Curran at the moment. Just he does most things very well. Hammers a consistent line and length at a reasonable pace (78-80); Doesn't seem to swing the ball much; Just a little seam; Seems match smart.

At only just 20 you'd expect him to add more pace and improve his batting.

Next year will be interesting for both Curran's given they will need to step up in Division 1. Many players have done well in a promotion season and not backed it up at the higher level, they obviously have time on their side but you get the feeling Surrey will rely on them quite a lot next season. For once I am hoping Surrey have a good season next year as it probably means they are doing well.

Yes they've got a lot of players I like but until they've done it in the first division consistently I'd always question a randoms potential to move up to international level. Tom I reckon will be fine. He's already got consistency and match smarts and whilst 80mph isn't express you can still take loads of wickets bowling like he does (Rushworth, Magoffin, Murtagh, etc). Only problem might be if he attempts to add pace and loses consistency or injuries. Sam is more debeatable as it's hard to know quite what his body will do as he is still very slight- and he possibly still has some growing vertically and otherwise. Sangakkara is obviously their trump card and Ansari allows them to play two spinners which is a great asset to have at the oval.

Wow we might actually do this.

Can't say I ever expected it but Fidel Edwards has been such a massive signing. It is so important for Vince that we stay up, partly because he now captain but more importantly he needs to prove himself with division one runs, go down this year and it is at least two years before he can do that.

Edwards has arguably been the best overseas signing of the season. Will be for certain if you stay up. Has a great record and if you had had him all season then you wouldn't be in this mess now.

Somerset deserve to go down for this performance, dock us some points, pathetic.

Reckon if Worcs hadn't had Ajmal clogging up a good part of the season, they may have stayed up.

When did they sign him for this season? Was it after he was done for chucking or before it? If before it, don't blame them chucking Ajmal was a huge plus, but if it was afterwards it was a massive gamble that at his age after chucking for so long that he would be a success in division one. Lets not forget Pakistan binned him pretty quickly after his ban as it was obvious he was a waste of space.

That and Somerset bringing in an absolute past it Rehman have to be the worst pieces of business in domestic cricket this year.

Indeed, particularly as it stopped Moeen getting some good overs in for Worcs earlier in the year, and stopped D'olivera's progress, who has done okay latterly, better than Ajmal and the other chucker they brought in from Lanka anyway. Rehmann has stopped Dockerell and Leach playing Just goes to show the earlier hypothesis that "English" spinners aren't trusted. Only Leach's second 5 wicket haul this match, but only his 17th FC match over 4 seasons.

I have laughed how they gave up this week once they were safe halfway through a game.

As for Worcs I think they are a good bet to go straight back up. Decent young players coming through and a pace attack that was good enough in div 1 so will thrive in div 2. Should get good odds too as the bookies will no doubt have Hampshire/Sussex as favourites and Kent and Essex ahead of them in the betting.

Yep, big first ton for the young lad today, Fell not old, Mitchell to score 1000s in that division, and a good young bowling-attack with hopefully D'olivera becoming a decent spinning all-rounder. Blimey England will have so many of them soon, we could call ourselves Bangladesh.....

Interesting highlights of the Currans yesterday, didn't know Sam's action was that ridiculously silky through the crease.

Just checked the Surrey team score after this comment on Currans. The Surrey team is so full of wicketkeepers.

Not much chance as Fisher will lead the attack.

Massive day for Sussex today. Not sure if Yorkshire will declare overnight, but assuming good weather (and assuming Hants pull off an exceptional victory against Notts) Sussex will have to bat for 96 overs to remain in Div 1.

Mike Yardy's last day as a professional cricketer. The optimist in me says that day is set for him to go out in style.

Sussex (cha-cha-cha), Sussex!

It feels odd to be supporting a team other than Essex, but by jiminy I hope Sussex can condemn Hampshire to division two.

Early wicket for Yorkshire and Hampshire are cruising. Going to be a fun day for neutrals. Nightmare if you like Sussex or Hampshire though.
