Lol I put a small amount on Gloucestershire win when Sanga got out. The odd was 12.00...very happy

I mean Sam Curran is 17 years old, Wilson is unreliable and Azhar Mahmood is 40+ and fat playing a game after 1 year where he bowled 10 overs already...I could see a chance of a Surrey loss right then and the chance was certainly more than 1/12 (something like 15% was the real chance maybe)

Yeah. Fair enough if they pull it off and win it then he is a hero, but a chase of 300 with arguably the best batting line-up in the country vs one of the worst bowling attacks in the county and it doesn't really look like a great deal of thought had gone into it. But I guess on the contrary he didn't really have too much time to set Yorkshire anything higher and still have enough time for 10 wickets.

Remember guys Shane Warne was the captain of Hampshire in the past. Need to be prepareed to lose to win, etc.

Interesting move from Pants tonight, opening with a nightwatchman for the one over to be bowled. Who promptly gets out first ball, bringing the day's play to an end, and thus in a bizarre cricketing paradox somehow manages to vindicate the move.

Disappointed Essex have dropped Dan Lawrence. Always was going to be a tough decision with Cook coming back in. Still would have thought that they drop Bopara (averaging 21.78) or Ten Doeschate who both miss the start of seasons to play IPL. No doubt Lawrence will be back playing again at the start of next season in bad conditions whilst Bopara and Ten Doeschate are out in India.

Really don't think it was a terrible attempt by Hampshire last week to get a game in.

1) They needed at least one victory from their two games to stay up. Possibly two
2) With the weather as it was and it being the end of the season there was always a chance that this weeks game would be a washout or close to it.
3) Yorkshire weren't really that bothered throughout the game and the previous game they collapsed once they won the tittle. Motivation levels low.
4) Notts who Hampshire play this week are possibly the inform club in div 1.
5) Worcestershire had a good chance of forcing a win themselves last week and if they did it would have only have made matters worse for Hampshire. As it was Worcs lost and were relegated.
6) Even with a defeat last week they still have an outside chance of staying up this week if they win and Sussex lose.
7) and contrary to what some people are suggesting they couldn't have batted Yorkshire out of the game. Yorkshire's declaration would have been contingent on Hampshire forfeiting their second innings.




If they caught instead of dropping Gale early on, chances are they'd have won easily and you'd be back criticising Yorkshire for agreeing to make a game of it.

As for last week, I thought Hampshire could easily have taken a few overs out by getting 20-25 in 2 overs and giving Yorkshire a bit of a stiffer target and still have it seen as a decent chance for both.

Seems to be no consistency re: England players turning out for counties btw. If Broad and Cook are playing, why not Taylor, Hales and Root?

Broad and Cook missed the one day stuff, the others played in it.

Yes Hampshire would have liked a few more runs but Gale was in the strong negotiating position as Hampshire were much more in need of big points than Yorkshire.

It was almost certainly done that Yorkshire only declared their first innings on the condition that Hampshire would forfeit their innings- and so set Yorkshire to win 304 in 96 overs. I don't think Yorkshire declared overnight out of the goodness of their heart to make a game of it.

Northants not putitng up much of an effort. Tom Curran 8 wickets in the day so far. Hampshire/Sussex relegation looks set to go to final day.

However Sussex fans must surely be heartened by the fact that the pair at the crease are called Root and Hutton.

Sussex looking in trouble a bit as Yorkshire look like setting them over 300 which means they will have to bat to survive and Hampshire look like they have a total they can chase down. Just hope rain doesn't intervene and the side who survives do it on the park.
