I'd question the speed gun. He was always pretty pedestrian paced.

So according to that list of fastest balls, I think it's fair to say Nantie Hayward and Dizzy Gillespie are the 3rd and 4th fastest(since the introduction of speed guns)

uh no clearly you haven't watched his early career then. He was obviously no Shoaib Akhtar but I find it easy to believe he'd have been 150+ when he was younger.
Actually I think he was probably at his quickest from the mid to the late 90s rather than early in his career. His run up had become smoother and his action more compact (by his standards) by that time and obviously he had bulked up in comparison to his early days which helped him get quicker. But yeah Srinath could touch 90 when he decided to bend his back.

Nah, McGrath could be fairly sharp at times.

On Srinath though, maybe he was a bit quicker than I thought...
Hard to tell how fast a bowler is bowling just by watching video. However, many of the batsman is this video were beaten by pace. I'm pretty sure that if Graham Thorpes testicles were about able to talk then they'd confirm that Srinath occasionally bowled mid 140s.

Richie Benaud: "He's caused him a problem..........or two".

I doubt Alistair Campbell would mention Srinath's pace for nothing. He had nothing to advocate for his pace. Although, 149.6kph in WC 99 was official and Sri was 2nd fastest in the tournament, 2nd only to Shoaib. This was after his rotator cuff injury, and also he wasnt young then. I would assume, someone at the age of 30, if he could bowl at 149, he would have bowled much faster when he was 26- 28. Rest is speculative and you can think whatever you want to.

I think you'll have a hard time convincing people that Srinath bowled "consistently faster than Donald and Waqar". Probably less so to the batsmen who faced them. I mean its quite possible that he bowled quicker than those 2 in a few spells or maybe even a few matches, but he was never consistently quicker than them.

Perhaps the right sentiment is along the lines of "Srinath outpaced Waqar and Donald on more than one occasion".
