It's unlikely that Pennatta would have the kind of commitments that Federer has.
No she wouldn't but even lower ranked ones would have to make up their minds relatively early. She probably has a few more than others of her ranking as she's not exactly ugly. Fed and the likes of Maria of course sign big two-year deals which I guess they have to commit too, unless injury hits.

A strange women's Tournament, incredibly odd at the finalists and obviously a big ratings and endorsement fail, but actually Flavia and Robi seem really popular on Tour and are real friends, played their first match against each other when they were 9, and I don't think I've ever seen a runner-up so genuinely happy for the winner. Even Sharapova likes Flavia so she must be very nice. Human interest story pretty strong if not quality of tennis.

If I remember correctly, Flavia has a total lifetime prize money of about 10-11 million dollars. The US Open is 3.3 million. So a 33% jump. Pretty wonderful day for her.

I suspect that if Fed wins tomorrow and retires on the spot the practical repercussions from sponsors and tournament directors would be a big fat zero. He's lose a few quid, but he can probably afford it.

Yes he would, and that's the point he could afford too, but not sure lower-ranked players could.

Anyway Flavia is playing onto the end of the Season which probably means she'll make the YEC, which'll be a fun way to go out I'd have thought.

Friend of mine represents a couple of top tennis players and once told me that a one-off slam win should be worth a minimum of $15 million in lifetime earnings to a player so prize money is tip of the iceberg

I wonder whether more people would be in Djokovic's corner if he'd won the French and was gunning for the grand slam today. Probably not.

Can you believe Fed missed that forehand on set point! He probably gets that against anyone else but he went for it so deep knowing Novak can get back almost anything.

Fmd, playing like this at 34. Knew I should have announced my availability for the tour of Bangladesh.
