Mathews have to bowl bit more. Probably 10-15 overs today. He's wobbling the ball more than two front line seamers and changes pace well. His quicker balls have been hitting the bat pretty hard. PHT is bowling dross. Has to get his act together.

Am I the only one thinking that this should have been the match Sanga should have been playing?

You know, I actually think I like the idea of Rahane at three and Pujara at five. Not even just in terms as "maybe that could work if they want to leave Rahane at three", but as something I think I'd genuinely prefer to having it the other way around, particularly if the openers end up Vijay+Rahul at full strength. Temperamentally it'd make more sense to have Pujara at three but I think Rahane's technique is a lot better against pace and Pujara's better against spin, and I think having a more aggressive player at three with a steadier hand down at five could balance the flow of the batting order better if both openers were relatively conservative.

Two things:
Rahane's technique is better against pace but he doesn't have Pujara's discipline.
You are underselling Pujara on his ability to play spin. He is the best in the world as far as test cricket is concerned.

Haha, you already addressed 1. Severe comprehension failure from me.

Yeah I strongly agree with both of those points, but I don't really think discipline is necessarily more important at #3 than #5, particularly if the openers are going to be Vijay and Rahul. The fact that Pujara's such a good player of spin is actually a point in favour of him batting at five, which I why I did indeed address it in my post. :p

Sanga's ****ed up his retirement in general.. either commit fully or gtfo imo. With all due respect.

Pujara is the only batsman in the Indian line up that I'd put money on making a double ton.. everyone else is either lacking in discipline or concentration. Type of batsman you are never supposed to drop from a Test line-up. Good thing he doesn't seem to have taken it badly.

Won't discipline matter more because of how flaky Rahul is? You agree that Pujara comes in at three if Dhawan is one of the openers, or am i misunderstanding you?
