Thiri should be the #3 IMO. No need to change etc; I was working under your weird 'Thiri must open' theory

1. South Africa - 283.33
2. Australia - 266.50
3. India - 219.25
4. England - 209.25
5. Pakistan - 205.00
6. New Zealand - 198.33
7. Sri Lanka - 166.67
8. West Indies - 134.17
9. Bangladesh - 67.50
10. Zimbabwe - 50.00

India will drop down to 212.58 if they lose those game, but go up to 225.29 if they win - but either way they'll be third.
A new thread is needed so we can get the updates on the rankings.

Pakistan with all the recent success a touch low maybe. Thoughts?

Nah he's awful as a #3 because he mixes the inability to adapt to the situation with being bad.

Early wicket? All he can do is block then eventually get out, you still have few runs and less wickets in hand.
Good start? All he can do is block then eventually get out, you have the same platform as before but with less wickets in hand

As an opener he can see off the new ball and then go away so a better player can bat.

I will say this for Thirimanne though - his application is excellent. Despite being below par he has the cricketing guts and mentality to stick around for ages. A little improvement in his batting will take him a long way because if he can ever make the grade he will bat for a long time and actually score runs.

Yeah I agree basically. Lag is worse with my rankings than the ICC ones. They've picked up on the improvement of Pakistan and New Zealand quicker than my rankings could, but they've also over-reacted to Australia losing an away series to a team they lost to last time as well by a smaller margin. Australia have (IMO quite rightly) actually gained points for only losing 3-2 to England.

I was thinking of starting a thread but didn't really feel like it was worth it.. but it's probably better than occasionally plugging them in tour threads, so I will soon. :p

International Coach
Thiri has a lot of class. But had been trash for few months. He has to get back to FCC and A tours. Although there is plenty of Mubarak hate, his little innings played since his return had much more impact than Thiri's. Ideally it was Thiri that should have been dropped, not Mubarak.

Rain is forecast for all five days. Would be a shame if this match was completely washed out without a result. Been such a good series to watch, it deserves a nice conclusion.

Dhammika kept bowling outside off stump to Kohli. On one of the balls he nicked but it didn't carry to the slip. Wish this issue is sorted eventually.

Any ways, how long is this rain going to last? Don't want a draw.

Karunartne played Yasir Shah better then any other Sri Lankan did during the Pakistan tour during that century he got - the talent is there no doubt.

Shastri and Kohli compliment each other in machismo. Gives them conviction for their ideas. Every one is trying to put on a beard these days to blend in. Even Rahane. Worrying.

Severe rain or just on and off? This Test crept up on me and when I saw 2/50 I was glad to see that Pujara was still in as he's my favourite Indian bat. What about today's forecast?
