When Mitch was at his best he generated sharp bounce and appreciable swing delivered from very close to the stumps. He also got some handy reverse. I haven't seen much swing from him lately - probably mainly due to the fact that since Bouthee was successfully transferred to ODI's he's been relegated to 1st change most of the time. I don't think he has the skill-set to fill that role long term.

In my opinion, if you have a test match defense and a range of #shotsoffbothfeet, you're better off learning the limited overs game at the international level. For a player like Latham, there are no better coaches in NZ than Kane Williamson, Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor.

Ditto re: Anderson and Neesham. I think Hesson realises this.

Fully agree, there's no better place for developing your game than international cricket. I remember John Wright saying that there's no way he would've become as good as he did if he'd been born in Australia or England because he wouldn't have had guaranteed place in the starting XI in those countries.

yeah, but it won't work if you don't have a decent defense that allows you to keep out the good ball, and if you don't already have a reasonable array of strokes. From here Latham will develop in his ability to rotate the strike, and perhaps the ability to manufacture a few shots against good balls. Just like Williamson did. Pretty minor tweaks on the scale of things.

But that won't work with someone like Rutherford with his limited scoring areas; he's better off developing that in domestic cricket.

Yeah mitch is 100% an opening bowler and death bowler. He's a lousy third seamer because he can't bowl middle overs for ****.

Feel we may be in for a serious towelling tonight. De Villiers was quite scathing after game 1. Needed to take that golden opportunity presented in game 1 when it was there. Don't think the opportunity will be quite so easy this time around.
