It's quite possibly a factor. Didn't start until he was (from memory) 24 in the pro ranks and was (again, IIRC) 28 when the late Mr Graham signed him from your chaps.

Lineker's breakthrough was relatively late too, he was 25 or 26 when yer Toffees signed him and was England's go-to chap until 2002.

So could well be a correlation between starting later and being effective into one's fourth decade.

Mind you Zlatan's nearly 34 and still not too shabby and seems like he's been around since God were a lad.

Aldo was semi-pro until his early 20s too I believe.

Tbf his form dropped off really badly last season. Still impressive though. The health benefits of never doing any running perhaps. Rooney might be paying for his youthful exuberance.

I've had more people in my living room then there were in our away end today. They thought playing us was their biggest ever game. And we lost. We didn't even have a ****ing corner. **** off

Nah fair play to them. Posted on our forum this morning that after today I'd like to see them do well. Got a lot of time for what they've done. Fans never stopped singing and without resorting to any sign on bollocks.

BUT it was undoubtedly our worst ever result
