*Official* Fifth Test at the Oval

Yeah, I think it's now becoming clear umpires have been told no-balls are secondary & at worst they'll be picked up at the fall of a wicket. They're not even bothering.
They do randomly call 1 or 2 in an innings though which makes it even more frustrating.

Yeah that is fine but they can't just decide to do it and not tell anyone.
I can see an umpire doing so, not because he has decided to, but just for common sense. There is a massive burdon on umpires to make the right decision. But once a poor decision is prone to be auto-corected, focus will shift to more important/sensitive issues, without giving it too much thought.

Not doing part of your job and not letting the people it impacts (the players) know is the opposite of common sense though.

Not been enough of this from us in this series. Actual partnership bowling.
Yeah exactly why Siddle or someone like him is useful and having both Johnson and Starc can be tricky. I think the general vibe/commentators opinion on Haze has been slightly unfair. I thought he was really good at times, but tried to take wickets too frequently, particularly in games 3 and 4. I put that down to experience a bit and our dreadful batting. I'm tipping Haze would have bowled better if we made say 336 and 260 instead of 136 and 60..

Yeah it's worth comparing Hazlewood's performances in the first two Tests to 3 and 4. As you said he tried to rely on magic balls too much. A sign of inexperience perhaps.

And Moobs has 2. Gun spell after the first 3 balls. Would the series had been different if he was playing all along?

Yessss, what a brilliant delivery. This has been some spell from Siddle who cruises past JC Laker (Eng) 1948-1959 46 86 12027 4101 193 10/53 19/90

This is pretty much what I thought might happen in the fourth test in an attack without Anderson. Broad doesn't click with the new ball and then it's playing catch up the whole time.

Would have been a very very different series if not for that 9.3 overs
so true

umps also stand further back than they once did because they fear injury, esp in white ball cricket. harder to see front line with parallax
