I'd like to see this side play in one of the next 2 games:

Guptill - hope the injury is fine
Latham (wk)
KW
Worker
Elliot
Neesham
Munro (or Ronchi as a specialist bat)
Bracewell (I live in a fantasy world where Milne will be preparing to play test cricket and bowl at 155kph at the WACA in a few months - although obviously should be playing)
Wheeler
Sodhi
Henry

All of those 'tailenders' are pretty decent with the bat.

Vain, is the word I'd prefer Sky taunted them with there. Not many in modern cricket use the word aggressive in a pejorative sense.

Surgery leaves Black Caps batsman Ross Taylor sidelined for two months | Stuff.co.nz

His team-mates found it hilarious. Ross Taylor, meanwhile, was in agony and a few hours later went under the knife in Harare after every batsman's worst nightmare.

The Black Caps batsman can chuckle about it now as he makes a gradual recovery from testicular surgery that will sideline him from cricket for two months. October 15 is his targeted return date, for Central Districts in the opening round of the Plunket Shield which makes its earliest start, before the big three-test series in Australia in November.

This one's not for the squeamish, and requires careful re-telling. "Feel free to laugh, because everyone else has," Taylor says, back home with wife Victoria and two young children in Hamilton.

It all happened in the nets before the third one-day international against Zimbabwe this month, facing a gentle legspinner from Ish Sodhi. Apparently the plastic protector wasn't sitting quite right, and the pain was instant. Look away now.

"I went to sweep Ish and just missed, and it hit me in the sore area. It was pretty sore and the boys were all laughing in the nets as I was rolling around. I would have done the same. I batted on for 5-6 balls and hit it allright but it was just too painful," Taylor said.

A doctor at the ground recommended Taylor go to hospital. They visited two, and he was advised to go under the knife. Far from home it was a scary thought, but surgery went well. Let's just say there were a lot of stitches involved.

"When I showed my wife the photos she was only aware of NZ Cricket's release which said "minor operation". She was a bit shocked. A part of me wanted to release the photos but I thought better of it," Taylor laughed.

If only NZC reminded South Africans how much tanking their Rand has done in recent years and how utterly insignificant South Africans are economically, next time. NZC won't though, because it's slightly too craven for that.

Some really nice shots from Neesh and Latham.
The Latham-Williamson partnership was so good to watch live. I was meant to be Skyping but kept getting distracted. I'm really looking forward to watching them build some big ones together in Test cricket.

Good to know Ross is Boss will recover in time. Even if he is a bit worse for wears. Part of me is very curious about what instructions his wife has been given.

Bizarre watching cricket a with wintry leafless backdrop. The catching was like a cold August pre-season fielding session.

I really hope this is the last time we see either Nathan McCullum or Mitchell McCleaghan in an ODI for New Zealand. McCleanghan fluked that start he had for New Zealand, although tbf he was probably a slightly better bowler in that he actually looked to swing the ball. But he's nothing but a joke nowadays. Averages over 40 with the ball since the start of 2014 with a Dernbach like economy of 6.3. Doesn't have the bowling brain to be anything decent at this level. He's had his chances, time to give Bracewell, Wheeler, Henry etc a chance and all those guys offer something decent with the bat too.

I wouldn't say game over for Mitch just yet. He has something but has lost the ability to use it. Needs some time out to redevelop his game.

But agree re NcCullum.
