Monday is great for TV, the absolute worst for going to the game though.
Yeah Monday night is such a **** night for absolutely anything, including being alive, that for the neutral a TV match is great

As a fan, I can't recall us ever playing on a Monday that wasn't a bank holiday and I for one am glad of that

I can only remember one, Northampton at home, we were bottom of League One, it was cold, we lost. It was awful.

Friday football is nice. Shame the actual match sucked. Luckily still managed to see all the goals in the Bundesliga.

Wayne Rooney is absolutely ****e. I could save them £299,000 a week if they want someone to just run offside constantly.

Think playing Carrick and Schneiderlin together against fodder like Villa is overkill. Think United would be much better off with Herrera in there instead of Morgs. Also, Rooney really is bang average when he's not in form. Every season he tends to have a few months where he's class, and a few months where he's rubbish. I think you guys are kind of like us in that you could do with a really good striker and also have something not quite right about the midfield. There's a lot of talk about getting a really expensive centre back, but LVG seems to have pretty solid defensive systems going on. Ever since that Leicester game he's really tightened up. Remind me a bit like Spain where they kind of keep ball and play conservatively to get 1-0 and 2-0 scores. I think it's incredibly boring but it seems to be doing the job OK.

A definite lack of pace up front. Memphis and Januzaj is all we had today and Rooney isn't as quick as he used to be. Not that much in the squad either. Counter attack goals are going to be hard to come by without speed and support.

Think the idea of playing Carrick and Schneiderlin together was to give them a bit of game time and used to playing together in midfield. Suppose Villa are a good a team as any to experiment against.

Think long term Schneiderlin is the plan, with Carrick/Schweinsteiger alongside, and the rest in front - just a case of bedding them into that now.

Whilst Memphis/Shaw showed signs they could potentially build a good rapport down the left (helps them being around the same age too, plenty of time to grow into a working and friendly relationship, much like Neville/Beckham did), there was little sign of Darmian going forward. A team like Villa is when you'd expect a full back to push on. Maybe LVG saying Valencia will be first choice has a root of truth to it - we lacked down the right as Mata always wants to come inside.

The thing about our first two games is that we spent so much of them 1-0 up, so it's hard to tell whether we're good at shutting games down or would just be equally turgid when losing. Probably the latter. Defence is still a positive though, Schneiderlin makes a big difference there.

Rooney was complete ****e again. Convinced we need a striker far more than we need a CB. Our best option up front is quite possibly Fellaini, which is not at all an acceptable state of affairs.

United's attack looking a bit void of ideas, they look like they lack a player similar to Hazard, Sanchez or Silva that make **** happen almost on their own. But you can't fault the midfield or defence. Schweinsteiger came on for 30 mins and looked a class above everyone.
