Nice pick, but jeez that's an enormous call with Messrs Hobbs, Gavaskar & Sutcliffe floating in the wind. Although I know a fair few rate him that highly.

I've always considered Hutton to be the best tbh. Was the best opener of his era by a mile, faced great quicks, spinners, scored heavily against everyone, managed some incredible solo efforts (eg: Ashes 1950/51 ), carried a pretty weak lineup on his back for quite a while, and is acclaimed by everyone.
