Yeah it was cold and the wind is always an issue for crowd at Edgbaston. Bit warmer tomorrow, dizzy heights of 17 degrees.

It appears we bowl both well and poorly as a unit, you have to admire the teamwork I suppose. Although the real problem was obviously scoring 130-odd with the bat.

Tbf , same goes for England last match . Think scoreboard pressure, or lack of, has helped and hindered the Aussie bowlers in respective second innings

Anyway sweepstake on England 2nd dig total

What you want is Anderson to ease into a senior bowler position. Bowl when it favours him and in vital periods of the games - but the other bowlers do the donkeywork. The problem since Swann's decline is none of the other bowlers have been that reliable and so Anderson has to pick up the slack. Sooner England get a decent spinner or a consistently good third( and maybe fourth) seamer the better.

Still reckon he could be an option for the 2019 WC. He's got the kind of body frame that should last a decent time and he still could be a massive asset with the new ball in english conditions even if he is bowling at 82/83 mph. I don't think they'll even think about him until maybe 12 months before the WC and if he is still playing test cricket at that point they'll possibly ease him back into ODI cricket- dependent on how well those who have been playing in his absence have been doing.
I hope that England are able to find a bowler that is capable of holding this attack together before Jimmy retires. One of the main reasons England have been such a force at home over the last decade is due to Jimmy's ability to swing the ball both ways like few others in the world. There will come a time in the not to distant future that a new leader will be necessary and I am not sure if Broad is consistent enough to take up that mantle and whether there are any others lurking in county cricket that are even capable of posing the kind of challenges that Jimmy does for visiting sides in English conditions. Certainly Finn developing into a test quality bowler would help prolong his career.

Where to start with a performance as pathetic as that one?

Wtf was Clarke thinking with his decision to bat in conditions tailor-made for English bowlers?

Wtf was every Oz batsman bar Rogers doing when playing at balls a foot outside off stump?

That had to be the easiest 6-for that Jimmeh has ever got as he literally only got one guy (Warner) out - the rest committed suicide

And wtf was up with bowling Bell half volley after half volley?

If Oz lose the Ashes, this will be the day that is most to blame

It would also help if any of your batsmen could play off the front foot.

Found this an annoying day tstl from what I saw of it. England bowled well, but hardly to the point where it was unplayable. The dismissals of Voges, MMarsh and Clarke in particular were very poor, so too MJ. Can forgive Nev to an extent because he simply didn't pick an inducker early doors.

Bowling was a bit loose and tbf England pounced on anything to score from. There were a number of chances created though which didn't come off. Can't believe no gully to Bell. I think that's very poor cricket with the ball nipping around.

I can't see many or any close games in this series. It seems neither team is really good enough to claw their way back once their opponent takes the initiative in any given match.

Really annoyed at Voges. Just terribly poor batting. Rissole him IMO. Rogers proving the most consistent batsman from either side this series. Really played well again today.
