Shoaib Malik's brother Adeel also played for Essex this season too.
Right you are.

Duckett having an interesting season. Left off Northant's pre season tour after failing to reach certain fitness levels (not for the first time in his career), randomly promoted to open ( a role I would of assumed he was ill suited to) because there was no-one else and making a success of it with a couple of decent hundreds in 4 matches, and a drink drive ban for crashing his car whilst over the limit.

Lancashire threatening the record books as the Petersen/Prince partnership goes past 400. No bowling points for Glamorgan in the 110 overs they sent down.

Although as the Glam commentator wryly mentioned, at least Lancs are still some way short of their best total of 863.

Not a bad time for James Taylor to score a double, not really done anything up to this point.

Pitch is undoubtedly an absolute road so it should be a draw but I guess we have seen what scoreboard pressure does. A draw isn't the worst result for us in any case as Glamorgan are the team closest to us and Surrey.

This is Colwyn Bay of course, a ground on which Steve James once hit a triple hundred - I imagine Petersen will be given the chance to do likewise. Yes Surrey will be liking this score as Glamorgan are the main threat and a win for them in this game is starting to look somewhat unlikely.

Gary Keedy playing for Notts I see - extending his f-c career into a 22nd season. Yes good timing from Taylor - first hundred of the season - on to 225 now and will surely be allowed to add a few more if he can.

Sam Hain with a ton, his career is 1286 @ 51.56 with 6 hundreds from 18 matches. Would be surprised if he isn't an England player at some point in the future.

Prince gone for 261 - partnership of 501 with Petersen.

39 came in 3.3 overs after lunch - that's what you call pushing on.

Is it just me that thinks Bell-Drummond could have something? His numbers are ordinary but when he gets runs he takes attacks apart and he looks so ****ing good doing it.

Haven't seen much of him, but a 100 against Australia counts for something I'm sure. I dare say he's somewhere on the production line of future Cook partners.

No 300 for Alviro - gone for 286. James Taylor still there on 264.

I'm a Michael Bates fan, but batting him at #3 must be giving him nosebleeds. Are Somerset trying to Borthwick him or something?

Gone third ball - you'd have to say it didn't really come off. Runs coming in a torrent at Horsham - Taylor and Read are just 14 off the county 6th wicket record of 372, set by the slightly unlikely pair of Kevin Pietersen and John Morris.

Edit: did for Read there - sorry Notts fans - always better to wait for the landmark to be passed.

It's such a shame he isn't more prolific with the bat. He's keeping is arguably in the top 3 in county cricket.

Magoffin aside, the Sussex attack is truly grim these days - today Luke Wells has bowled 26 overs, against seven by Nash. And Wright hasn't been tried at all, which I can only assume means he's not fully fit.

Taylor another one to fall short, in his case for 291. A run-soaked day so far, though.

Sacrificial lamb so Cooper can hide at five in all his terrible-form glory.
I was going to say 'but Myburgh' then realised that they left him out to play all of the all-rounders except for Gregory. FMD the Somerset selection has been appalling this season.

Their batting has been really terrible all season. Just looking at the stats now, there have only been three tons scored for them all season, and one of them was way back in the first game (by Myburgh, who they've dropped). Cooper must be in serious danger of the axe himself given he'd actually been even worse than Myburgh leading into this game (one half century all season) and then failed again here as well.

It's not really a bad batting lineup on paper either.
