Read the rules, ball cannot touch ground at any point. Fingers under ball is a myth which needs to die.

Ball touched ground. End of story. You're not allowed to grass it. Saying he's "in control" mid-dive is laughable.

Where is the problem?
The fact the ball was grassed is the reason. Still you sit there in your own bubble as usual and moan for the next few hours about something nobody else agrees with.
