What was up with England that session? Felt like they were just going through the motions for long stretches. Really poor.

I don't think this pitch favours England really. Australian bowlers less accurate but probably more capable of blasting a side out on a totally flat one.

Great session for Aus.
Exactly the sort of thing Australia has been crap at most of the time for... well years really. Just playing out a session carefully, getting through some slow periods without panicking etc. Very good batting, albeit with a chance or two.

In fairness if you were going to pick a batting pair most likely to do it, it would be these two.

The bowling was quite good, all things considered. Fielding not great. Not sure what you expect given the conditions/quality of batsman.

Was a bit worried that all the dot balls would hurt. But that was a very out of character session. Hopefully our other batsmen can follow suit.

Yuckity ****. To people who were watching, how tough were the missed chances in that session? Feels like te sort of thing we can't afford to do on this pitch.

Can see Aussies just scoring to many and scoreboard pressure doing us. Really sensible batting though from both, superb. Bowling ok but had to take every chance and we missed the big one

Main missed chance was Bell dropping Smith. It wasn't easy but it's still one you want to take.

Last session will be carnage with a lot of runs and possibly a few wickets
I reckon not. These two will speed up a bit as the bowling gets tired, and maybe take advantage in the last 10 overs with the old ball. But I don't think it will be carnage. 320 for 2 or 3 would be absolutely fine for Aus at close of play. Keep England in the field for best part of two days, then unleash the quicks for 3 or 4 wickets in the last hour on Day 2.

Ya 130 runs in a session is what I call carnage...I reckon it can be 140 too

Circumstances have meant I have seen very little of play today. Seems like I haven't missed much and that the Lord's pitch is the same as always, flat and easy to bat on.

Only question is will it still be a batting paradise on days 4 and 5 which it normally is?

Glad we have rotated bowlers and let Moeen get through a few good spells, Broad/Jimmy have plenty left in tank.

Well 2 years ago they would have bowled 15 each by now and been knackered. Cook has got better in the management of his bowlers.
