Bangladesh Test Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt.), Tamim Iqbal (vice capt.), Imrul Kayes, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Nasir Hossain, Taijul Islam, Jubair Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Shahid, Mustafizur Rahman

Don't know why BCB is sticking with Mushy as captain. One of the worst captain I've seen. Tends to overuse bowlers, no sense of rotation and not attacking enough. Looking at other options, Mullah can be a choice for captaincy. Good cricketing brain and also successful as a captain in domestic. Tamim although vice captain of the team is not captaincy material at all.

On a positive note, selectors finally got rid of Shuvagata Hom. I think he's given enough chances now to prove his credentials and he failed.

Mustafizur is included in the squad and if he plays then I hope Mushy does not overuse him. Although he is not as injury prone as Taskin but got to be careful. He is only 19. Al Amin deserves a call up instead of Shahid. Still I cant rate Shahid and not sure why selectors/management are persisting with him. Al Amin must have done something terrible to be overlooked this way which is not yet disclosed.

I'd go with,

1. Tamim
2. Kayes
3. Mominul
4. Mushfiq
5. Mahmudullah
6. Shakib
7. Liton +
8. Shahid
9. Taijul
10. Jubair
11. Mustafizur

Mushy's an alright captain I reckon. Lacks in technical nuance but is basically the heart and soul of the side. Vocal, supportive, leads from the front. Keeps the sides spirits high, keeps them focused. BD need that in a Test captain more than it needs someone good tactically.

I really hope Mustafizur doesn't play. They should be taking good care of him and Taskin/Abdul/Al Amin and not exposing them to Tests just yet.

I like Shahid. Did okay against Pak. And Rubel should be playing Tests now. Time for him to step up as leader of the attack.

I also like Soumya in the Test side.

1. Tamim
2. Kayes
3. Mominul
4. Mushy (*)
5. Mahmudullah
6. Shakib
7. Soumya
8. Das (+)
9. Taijul
10. Shahid
11. Rubel

2 quicks, 2 spinners, + Soumya, Mahmudullah and Mominul for support overs. Batting till 9/10.

It's a bit of dilemma that whether we should blood in likes of Mustafiz/Taskin into Tests at this stage. They are the future no doubt. Although pace department will struggle without them but maybe it's better to wait for some more time before exposing them in Tests which will be better in the long run.

Yup.

ODIs and T20s are fine. But the bulk of their cricket should be in the domestix and A Team FC games. They need overs under their belt to get fitter, wiser and more consistent. Then bring them into the Test side.

Rubel should be ready for Tests now. He's been pretty good in ODIs for a while and has a lot of exp. Fitness seems fine too.

Quite exciting to see BD with a genuinely good pool of young fast bowlers.

Pitch actually looks a belter. True bounce. SA needs runs on the board.

Edit: might not be the case

Subcontinental television really has taken the trend of ads being played louder than content to a silly extreme. It happens here too but it's so exaggerated there that I actually have to adjust my volume up and down each side of ad breaks.

We've gotten so used to this that when I'm chatting with my friends/family while watching, we instinctively start screaming at each other once an over ends.
