The logic would have centred on what he offered with the ball but you have to wonder about even that considering he barely bowled in the first dig on a pitch he, prima facie, was perfect for.

Taller, hits the deck harder, less accurate, doesn't move it as much (no reverse I've seen yet either). Could be good but not there yet.

Given how poor Watson looked with the ball I can't see a justification, he didn't help keep control at all.
