Haha yeah that and the pretentious as **** music managed to make the video puke inducing instead of epic.
the original video was good though but i cant find that anywhere. but the point is that knock was the most enduring thing of the series for me

Lol at that last bit where clarke's courage is compared to australians who fought and died in wars

It was a great knock but he didn't get the better of Morkel eventually unlike AB who played Johnson so well. Morkel was so gun tho :fap:
Idk about getting better of him but he certainly found it easier later on that first day. Hit him for a few boundaries.

Sports commentary is always dumb that way.

Also I would call not getting out to morkel as getting the better of him. Whereas AB was playing well against Johnson from the get go, so there's nothing there to get an better of. If anything Johnson got a better of AB by getting him out with his slower balls.
And this. The bowler's job is purely and simply to get you out; any time he doesn't it's a win for you.

Think that is the best you can hope for.

Teams.
Shame we won't see Stevens or more importantly Coles who has gunned it somewhat this year. Riley has been tipped to play for England so interesting to see how he does.

Kent XI: 17 Sam Northeast (captain), 23 Daniel Bell-Drummond, 6 Joe Denly, 4 Rob Key, 21 Ben Harmison, 24 Adam Ball, 20 Sam Billings, 8 Mitch Claydon, 14 Matt Hunn, 33 Adam Riley, 5 Ivan Thomas.

Australia XI: Chris Rogers, Shaun Marsh, Steve Smith, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Mitch Marsh, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Fawad Ahmed.

Claydon's useful, but FMD that's a weak Kent attack (especially since Riley hasn't done much so far this year, iirc).

it's madness really, Harris and Haze are locks imo

edit: exaggerating but yeah unless Harris is really underdone i think he should play. Conditions would suit him imo

Lehmann's taking the piss just to make a point about Australia's bowling depth. There's no way Harris won't play if he's match fit.

Some Aussie journo quoting Chappell and going on an anti-Cook diatribe. Not sure which bits were Chappell's and which were his but a couple of highlights:

- England will never win the Ashes with Cook as captain
- Alastair Cook capitulates at the mere sight of the word Australia

Do I need to point out the two basic flaws with these statements (while accepting Cook's overall record V Oz isn't great)

Pointing out flaws in what chappell says is a bit redundant.

Love him though. Like boycott, we all need our grumpy grandpas.

I consider myself a bit of a hater of Cook; but no one can deny that Cook has had some big knocks against Australia. However, I think Cook can't do well in this series against Harris, Haze, Starc - will almost definitely have a below-40 average in this series.

Maybe how I used 'getting the better of' someone was a bit misleading. What I meant with that comparison was basically that I think AB playing Johnson's bowling so well was a step above Clarke just surviving first with a combination of skill and luck and scoring later on. Clarke made the most of it of course and played a top innings in the end, but he didn't reach that ceiling of batsmanship (for lack of a proper term) that AB did imo.

The way you structured it, "he didn't get the better of Morkel", made it a comparison between clarke and morkel.

Both Rogers and Marsh going okay atm

this will inevitably result in questions over Warner's place in the team /s
