Come on, don't jump the gun. You talking about Dhoni having Srini to protect him make it seem like he was a liability for Indian cricket when the opposite is actually true. Of course he might not be the animal that he once was. I say give the guy atleast enough time for him to get his average below 50, then maybe you can whack him. Hmm, "Whack", that's a nice word, I like that.

Shastri was a bad, bad appointment. Seems from the outside as someone who is very controlling who has his favourites (Raina, Dhoni,) and comes across as a guy who just wants to prove the media wrong.

I am glad India lost tbh. We are building for the 2019 world cup and we should focus on getting players who can do the job for us then, really. Never thought I will say this, but we should learn from the English ODI side really. I didn't think much about our ODI batting for the 2015 World Cup, and if we keep picking these guys, this will go on happening. Do we really want Raina in 2019 in England? Are we comfortable about Dhoni getting us there? But, hey, we can't sack Dhoni now, can we. How many of these players would we back to get a hundred under pressure for us? Every time we lose, I hear this ****ing bull **** about rebuilding. We cannot hide behind that after the loss to Bangladesh here, can we?

I am loving how Bangladesh is developing as an ODI side btw. After being boring for ages, they are the most refreshing team to watch in ODIs at least.

This will be my batting order:

Dhawan
Rohit
Rahane
Kohli
Dhoni
Raina

Dhoni is not the explosive opener he once was; so he can build from no. 5 bringing all his experience into play. Rahane doesn't play well in pressure situations when the NRR is always climbing; so get him as high as possible - no. 3 is good since the opening combination works fine on all surfaces and shouldn't be broken.

Another thing is most of the dismissals (especially Kohli, Rahane) are taking place when the batsmen are bogged down and wants to release the pressure with a shot. This may be avoided with the judicious use of batting powerplay I think.

Re Raina, I don't rate him weldone. He has a fair record in England but any one who watches knows he can't really bat that well. His average is 31 abroad over all and 38 at home. In this there are lots of not outs. An overall career average of 36. Batting so low, you would think that he would average more really. Even under Dhoni, when he has had his best run, he averages just 34 abroad which includes 8 not outs in 50 or so games. Just not good enough for me.

The Jadeja issue is annoying for India, due to the lack of all rounders he must play and he did gun it in England in champions trophy, but as the lower order all rounder he doesn't offer enough with the bat, guys like Faulkner, Russell, Anderson you are always fearful if they bat 10-12 overs, but Sir? His "hitting" won't worry to many captains. India need fire power down the order.

To be fair, Jadeja used to be a handy ODI batsman, he's played some good knocks like the one against NZ where he drew the game. But these days, he's never had the timing he used to have.
