*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

McCullum to see off the initial couple of overs in watchful fashion, then unfurl some classical shots mostly along the carpet giving the England team no opportunities to gain a feel-good early wicket, before unleashing with a flurry of 6's against the spinner, and ultimately guiding NZ home as he is now seeing it like a beach-ball. Captains knock accomplished.

The quest to make a new England ODI side has resulted in some seriously ordinary players being picked. The people with all the runs this series are, surprise surprise, experienced internationals who with the exception of Morgan are all Test players as well

They didn't just become experienced international players by accident, though. You gotta pick them at some point.

The backlash caused by England scoring a dismal 302 has begun. Changes must be made for the next match or another paltry score is in the offing.

Cook would see them through to the 50 over mark. I mean 200 not all out is better than 300 and you lose all the wickets. No chance of a draw there.

If was rather strange timing, rightly or wrongly on the back of 3 consecutive 300+ score for England, even if they slightly overdid it today.

Eh? They're playing better here than the World Cup...

I'm fine with the side we are picking just think we were a bit brainless at the end by not taking our medicine and accepting that 320-330 and batting all 50 overs was a better option than the all out attack we did.

That would require an amendment to the 'aggressive cricket' laws as written by Baz and already adopted by England: at no stage can you let up on the throttle and adopt a plan B. Such a move would be a contagion that would undermine the whole aggressive cricket mindset, and pretty soon everyone would go back to playing ordinary cricket.*

*Does not apply to Kane Williamson, who always bats responsibly yet at a high tempo. The team collectively put this down to him being "a freak" (only freaks can bat with such control, precision and determination) and as such can dismiss him as an outlier.
