Okay, so Ayew is free and looking to join Liverpool or someone else in the EPL. Alves is free too, and so are Khedira and De Jong. Alves aside, the others are great choices still.

Went to the Emirates again tonight. Genuinely heard someone say "It's a disgrace Wenger". Right.

Meanwhile, Rafa to Madrid seemingly likely...

Any of you still on Sterling's side after these comments by his agent?

I have little problem with him wanting to leave, but the way his party is going about it is completely unprofessional.

Yeah, it was a bizarre and dire outburst.

However, it amused me that he referred to Jamie Carragher as a "knob".

I wouldn't say I'm "on his side". As a United fan the whole thing is just hilarious and great on so many levels.

I think it hinges on whether you agree with him/his agent that Liverpool have systematically been using the media to undermine him and thereby weaken his position in contract negotiations.

Neither side has really come out of it with any credit to be honest.

As someone who can't stand Liverpool it was pretty nice of his agent to chuck a petrol can on the flames though.

edit: and the agent is spot on when it comes to his comments about ex-Liverpool players in the media.

Does anyone actually believe this though? His position can't be that weak if he's been offered £100k p/w, surely?

I can't believe I'm actually about to say this, but £100k a week, for a top Premier League club, is an absolutely derisory offer for the best young player in Europe.

Don't forget, that tag isn't as the result of the media going into over-drive; it was his own manager who described him as such.

Yeah, it sickens me and in our heyday our annual wage budget would have been about £30m - £40m but it's the reality of Premier League football.

I don't know how likely it is. I can see why he thinks it.

Tend to agree with furball, they're taking the piss offering him 100k a week and the parade of ex-players telling him he's not worth that is wholly disingenuous given how recently they were ranting about how good he is.

Paul Clement to Derby apparently. A shame if true, was very keen on him especially with Paco not happening.

Meh Yaya Toure's manager comes out with **** like that twice a week.
And they make themselves look bad. "City should have gotten him a cake" is said tongue-in-cheek; not as a serious suggestion that City are at fault, as an example.

As for Sterling: Liverpool have offered him 100k; whether they can't or won't go higher is moot because there isn't any other offer and Sterling's agent has made sure there won't even be negotiations. Liverpool have made it clear they won't sell him. So it's irrelevant whether Sterling feels he is worth more at this stage - or even if he is worth more on some objective market scale - because he signed a contract that ties him to the club for another 2 seasons.

If he disagrees with the offer then he should sit tight for a better one and if nothing comes he can leave on a free and might even get a big signing on fee at the next club. It's Liverpool that will eventually have to consider whether keeping him exceeds the benefit of selling him and this is usually a consideration of the transfer fee we can get for him. It's not supposed to be about whether your client has caused such a **** storm that his position becomes untenable and you must sell him. Clubs often give in to this because they don't want to deal with the negative PR but it is a sheisty move for someone who agreed to a contract with a certain length of time.

Some people seem to suggest that he has a right to move if he wants; but in reality he doesn't and anyone that signs that contract should know that.
