oh yeah but the point is that if it's not red on the stumps there is 0 chance of being red on hitting in line
But the umpire isn't supposed to keep Hawkeye in mind when he gives his decision. he cbf with whether Hawkeye will show red or yellow... his job is to rely on his gut and give that 50-50 decision one way or the other., not worry about whether Hawkeye will show half the ball hitting or full.

Not dropped many yet so has a few to catch up on the screamers and that just from this match.
he has confidence now, but long-term if he wants to become a genuinely great slips fieldsman he needs to work on his technique. the best slips fielders are the ones who make catches look easy, not amazing.

that's not really my point though, it's more that if it's that far to the offside then it's almost certainly outside the line so it's (a) a fair enough call to give it not out and (b) a dumb review

Moeen bowling much better here than he did in the second Test and the little I saw of him in the first innings of this Test.

Not hard.
Haha yeah true. I think the experiment of playing a batting allrounder with a nice action as the main spinner would've been deemed a failure by now if he bowled like this in his first few Tests so it's an interesting insight into the importance of timing in a way. I've been a vocal advocate of Moeen's bowling here since even before his Test debut but boy has he bowled some crap here. Even in the second Test when he ended up with reasonable figures they greatly flattered him.

Said it lots that he shouldn't even be playing. Should be playing against Somerset today not WI. He is a work in progress who got injured and rushed back with very little bowling behind him, what did anyone expect but the liquorice allsorts we have had on this tour. Not writing him off, want to see him with a few overs in county cricket behind him and then we get a better idea.

Tempting Samuels perhaps? He did hit a couple of boundaries so maybe Cook's trying to get a brainfart out of him.
Perhaps. Might also have been Ali bowling a variety of long hops and half volleys and his inability to bowl two consecutive deliveries on a good length.

If it was simply a case of replacing Moeen then I think he'd have given it to Anderson to have a short spell before Tea.
