*Official* English Football Season 2014-15

The first FA Cup Final I watched on TV in full was Arsenal v Liverpool in 1971. A few years later I had a premonition that those two teams would also be involved in the last one I ever saw. I was relieved when May 4th 2002 came around and am hoping for a Villa win today. :newyear:
Safe to let the life insurance lapse again, then.

The "Gerrard crowning his career with a trophy" story ends here.

Only downer is the last time Villa made the final (2000, if memory serves) it was a wretched dog turd of a game.

Quite possibly the worst FA Cup final I can remember (93 & 05 excepted, because the good guys won).

Excellent. No trophies for Liverpool, knocked out of Europe twice and almost certainly not in the CL next season. I bet Sterling feels foolish for not signing a new contract. :)
Pleased to see Villa playing proper football after the austerity tactics of Lambert.

It's utterly depressingly hideous though with half the teams an utter joke, and with only 2 promotion places to grab, miserably hard to get out of for the other half that aren't.
We did the decent thing and got out at the first time of asking despite being crap all season. Worst season ever though it was fun taking over 3 sides of the ground at Northwich on Boxing Day.

Barrow will be back in the Conference next season. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for them ever since they were voted out of the League in the early 70's just because Hereford had a cup run.

See I don't know where Northwich is, of course I could google it, but it does show for a lot of us if you don't have a reasonable football team you are pretty irrelevant.

I still have no idea where Burton or Fleetwood are and they'll both be in a division higher than us next season.

I agree a bit with Fleetwood, but I think i now know it's on the coast oop north, I think I've always known where Burton is, they make a lot of beer, potteries I think.

I worked in Northwich for four years. Most of my family think I worked in Nantwich. I feel this validates your point.

No idea what to think of Rodgers and such. All quite disappointing.

Excited for Aston Villa though. :) Best of luck to them in the final!

Rodgers has rather bought his own hype this year, he still of course needs backing, but he needs to just go back to the basics, and realise he needs a big full-time replacement for Suarez, that isn't Ballotelli.

Mind you talking of managers that love themself, I guess Sherwood hasn't stopped looking in the mirror tonight.

He rather made a rod for his own back at roughly this point last season when he said, referencing Tottenham, that anyone spending £100m in a summer should really be challenging for the title (paraphrasing). I would imagine he feels a bit awkward about that quote now.

...and his Southampton quote. We all know he talks too much.

Agree grecian re: going back to basics. 4-5-1, keeping possession would be nice.

The divide between the fully professional and semi-pro teams is pretty marked, yeah.

Saw the mighty U's play Hyde last year and, in all seriousness, Hyde were the worst team I've ever seen. They'd obviously lost funding or something because there's no way the shower they had out could've got them out of Conference North. Had a chap playing for them and we were uable to decide if he was the left back, left midfield or centre midfield, so poor was his grasp of positional play.

Looked like he was someone's mate they'd dragged out of the pub because they were a man short.

United won 7-2 and should be embarrassed they didn't hit 10.
Said shower has got them out of the Conference North again this year, Over 100 conceeded again.... Shame they won't be coming to the mighty Trafford FC, because despite being a shoe in for the top 10 and a possible promotion push, we've gone and got ourselves relegated.

But Hyde's run was helped by the money they were getting from Man City using their facilities for youth and junior levels for a long time (ever since Trafford got rid of them actually...), that dried up when they moved to Carrington before building their own place.

Really? Barrow is an awful dump of a place though, there's a reason why there's **** all other towns for miles around. Even Morecambe looks across the bay disparagingly at them.

I always felt sorry for Altrincham for the fact they couldn't seem to get elected to the league at the time despite usually storming up the Conference table. By the time automatic promotion came they just couldn't get there (think they managed 3rd in 91 or 92)

Southern ****s. Like any of us know where Forest Green, Braintree, Alfreton or Welling are

Also a genius move to come out and say that Sterling was the best young player in Europe.

Alfreton's Northern isn't it? Anyway rather making my point that if they were football League for years we'd all know roughly were they are, in the civilised South or the savage North.
