*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

Just been listening to RadioSport. They were discussing Brownlie missing out after averaging 70 in Plunket Shield . He misses out to Rutherford which is a shame,.Also saying Lathams latest figures are not that good and both Rutherford/Latham places are not secure,

So Latham and Guptil fighting for a place and Rutheford and Brownlie fighting for the other.
Thing with Latham is he's the one bright young batting talent to emerge since KW broke into the side in 2010, and like KW should get quite a long rope. Even if he does fail on this tour it would be too early to think of discarding him. Rutherford is another story.

Thought we were discussing tests here? Not that Flynn's test record is flash but he has something of a past record in standing up to quality attacks (more so than Guptill notably). Wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Nicol anyway.

Agreed about the merry go round but NZ's batting stocks don't exactly run deep. Unless there are any young guns banging the door down (Young is the only one I'm aware of who comes close, those who follow the domestic game closely can correct me here) it's mix-and-match when it comes to the bench.
Yeah but even Flynns test record aint that flash either. Who would he replace in the test side currently ? no one.

I'm hoping too as well. Comments were saying time for him to step down right now so a 'proper cricketer' Kane Williamson can take over. Tall poppy syndrome alive and well in NZ
Kane is totally not ready right now, his own batting hit the wall during the tournament, can't pick the change-ups, and needs to sort it out before taking on more tasks. Wouldn't mind seeing the transition of captaincy in 2 years and Baz hopefully is keen and fit enough to play under Kane in 2019.

The fact that they go all the way to England for 2 tests and 5 meaningless ODIs just shows where NZ sit in the who cares department of world cricket. They are down with Bangladesh & Zimbabwe just above the bottom rung of the ladder. A similar position to the country in general really.

Yes he is...
Umm last few test he was batting in the middle order. He did open years ago against England. if he was going to be in the future calculations of the NZ test side he would have been picked. Rutherford was picked ahead of him speaks volumes.

Annoys this crap out of me is how the West Indies are getting 3 tests against England in April (while NZ gets 2 which is a waste of time) and a test series in Australia including Boxing Day test !!

Thanks for your contribution, champ. Looks like your last for a while. Real shame, that.

I am suffering from post WC depression :-(

Can't wait for the England series.
Playing the Don Bradman cricket game on XBOX should ease your mind, replaying the final where Baz blocked out the Starc over and assault Hazelwood, NZ going on to score 300 and wins the WC.
