*Official* English Football Season 2014-15

Sterling's brilliant, for a youngster or otherwise. Take penalties away and he is basically (statistically) a Hazard clone - and Sterling plays RB and LB at times.

Sturridge is fair enough. He is a 20+ a season goalscorer - if only the **** would remain fit. 150k generally isn't a huge amount; Suarez was getting 200-250k by the end IIRC.
Suarez is a top 3-5 player in the world.Sterling is an overhyped youngster who had one good season.150k is what some of the top Bayern players normally get.

Yeah, I mean to put things into perspective it's more than the likes of Iniesta, Neuer, Ramos, James, Özil, Alexis, Mata, Reus, twice as much as Courtois and Müller, and around the same level as Di Maria, Ribery, Robben etc. And all of those are a lot older than him. The only other player I can think of getting a 6 figure per week salary before their 21st is Götze but he had to sell his soul to do so.

I think he'll probably get some self awareness and sign a new deal in the summer or something, but it would be pretty hilarious if Liverpool managed to lose him.

I wonder if there's a defensive minded English player out there on 150k a week? Which youngster is going to want to specialise in defence when they know being a 20 game a season striker will pay them twice as much, as well as all the headlines and glory that comes with it?

Considering Harry Kane is now only another half a season off a knighthood, yet the English defensive pair that shut him out completely at Old Trafford only get a mention when they **** up, why are young kids going to want to learn the art of being a successful defender, unless they aren't good enough to be attackers? We're not going to improve as an international team until we solve this disparacy in view (and consequentially skill level). We'll keep getting done over by good strikers whilst our overrated attackers get shut out by competent defences. Paying Stirling £150k a week because he can dribble (but not shoot), won't help.

Nah Liverpool aren't winning this one, he can definitely get 150k a week. If his contract runs down I'd pay that to have him at United 100%. Citeh would have him too.

Outside England he'd get a lot less, but you could say that about anyone.

What's that got to do with anything? The Premier league clubs can afford to and will pay that much. Liverpool can easily pay 150k to its best player - and that's Sterling. The only reason it seems to be contentious is because of his age and Liverpool maybe not wanting to set a precedent.

But on merit he deserves it IMO and it's not a ridiculous ask either - it's like not he wants 250k.

Think about it: if Liverpool didn't already have Raheem Sterling we'd probably have to pay something £40-50m (and that might be conservative) just to buy him and such a player would probably ask for that kind of weekly wage anyway. And that's in the unlikely event a player of that quality would even consider Liverpool before some of the other powerhouses in world football.

Honestly, if Liverpool let him go the whole board should be sacked.

As an aside, I think he'd be perfect for a team like Bayern's. Their wingers (Robben and Ribery especially) will need replacing soon and in a Pep team Sterling would absolutely own. He presses his guts out, never stops running, has quality on and off the ball and can play more half the positions on the pitch. He's only 20, is already fantastic, and still has a lot of room to improve.

Reckon Pep would rather use him as a false nine, but he could do a job wide as well.

Phil Jones with the number 8 shirt for England tonight. Grim.

Townsend can **** off. Blaming Jones completely for the goal there and absolving Hart of blame. Yeah he wasn't great, but he did put the left back onto his weaker foot, obviously a lovely cross. But Hart was ridiculously slow to react and far too close to his near post to allow him to get the save.

Typical England goal to concede, neglect that a left back can cross with his right, allow a striker across the run of defence and forget he has the skill to head across goal accurately

The way they just left a guy in the box completely free was the worst part. Just stood off and let him have a free header.

Your right, but what the **** is Jones doing in the team. Sorry if Townsend slagging him off means he never plays for England again, then the only half-decent think Andy has done.

There's no reason for it in performances for club or country.

God the idiots are already out saying Kane has been 'anonymous' - been perfectly composed but hardly had the ball. Very nearly played Henderson in and won a big header in the box which Walcott let the defender get in front of him for. I know in England we'd rather have a guy trying something ridiculous and give the ball away nearly each time - like Rooney - but still.

Since when has anyone listened to Townsend though?
Good point. and Woy playing Jones in midfield isn't ideal, because it keeps Phil from his best position, which I'm not sure what that is, but he'll be dynamite when he plays it regularly apparently.

**** me is Sledger just liking posts that were similar to ones he'd just made? I'd just agree with him for free likes. but then I'd lose what little self-esteem I had.

Anywhoo, Andros keeps on doing it for England, people questioning him even being in the squad, but in the end he seems a different player in an England shirt.
