Yeah with the money from Sterling sale you can buy back Suarez & Alonso, clone Gerrard and get Jan Molby a gastric bypass. And then it'll be their year.

Liverpool supporting colleague wants Sterling sold. Am I missing something?
One of my Liverpool affliated mates is kinda of the same mind, but more for the "jumped up little prick holding MY TEAM to ransom" aspect of it, rather than footballing reasons per se.

First thing I did on my Fifa Career Mode was to sell Sterling. I think that says it all.

Where does he fit?
We had this discussion on twitter a few weeks ago, but basically I think there's two ways Arsenal can go with their forward shopping in the summer. Either buy someone in the Giroud mould, or at the very least a proper striker, as a sort of upgrade on the centre forward position. Or lean towards more of setup without a proper centre forward and Giroud as a quality option off the bench or for variety. A front three of Özil, Sterling and Alexis kind of thing. I'm starting to lean towards the latter because I don't really see any quality strikers being available on the market in the summer, but there will be loads of wide/half forwards available and we've got loads already.

Of course, I'd take Sterling regardless for the aforementioned reasons if it was decent value.

I don't really get what Sterling is playing at though. What's he hoping to get better? Realistically he's not going abroad so he's holding out on the threat that he could go to a slightly better club in the same league? Just ****ing tell Rodgers to buy a good RWB in the summer and sign a deal at £60k a week instead of being a **** about it.

Basically, from the 'rumours', the club has offered him 100k, he wants 150k. I think there'll be a compromise in between with incentivised extras. I doubt there is a ownership/board in England that is stupid enough to risk losing a prospect like Sterling. Even at 150k I say he is worth it. That's what Sturridge gets and Sterling is probably our best player. Age doesn't matter; he is consistently a fantastic player and the only player this season who has performed from the start until now. Even played in multiple positions (AM, LW, RW, CF, RWB, LWB). There isn't a top team out there that wouldn't pay him it.

Really? Sterling's still officially 'promising' in my book. You're probably right given the shopping sprees that the two Manchester clubs will have in the summer, but a few years ago he wouldn't have got a look in imo.

And I know I'm out of touch with these things, but £150k pw for Sturridge is somewhere beyond obscene. He must owe Saurez a fair bit of that, as he wouldn't have looked nearly so valuable without the Uruguyan's contribution last season.

Sterling's brilliant, for a youngster or otherwise. Take penalties away and he is basically (statistically) a Hazard clone - and Sterling plays RB and LB at times.

Sturridge is fair enough. He is a 20+ a season goalscorer - if only the **** would remain fit. 150k generally isn't a huge amount; Suarez was getting 200-250k by the end IIRC.

It's 109% higher than the average Premiership wage was in 2014 tbh.

BARNES OUT
Yeah but the Premiership isn't an even playing field with a restricted salary cap. What is it compared to the average salary across the top 6 teams of last season?
