Imagine parnell coming to the crease to face Boult today when Amla went out...He talked through that though.. it wasn't completely daft.

Tahir strikes me as being not-dissimilar to Brad Hogg -- a far bigger threat in ODI cricket because his wrong'un is hard to read. Would be interesting to know if, like Hogg, it's far easier to read Tahir's wrong'un with a red ball compared to the white."I'm worried about his variations" and "I'm worried about him because he has variations" aren't the same thing.
For that Parnell would have to be a good enough bowler to actually get picked.Imagine parnell coming to the crease to face Boult today when Amla went out...
Yeah that one usually swings a mileHaha that was actually a perfect release from Vettori. It usually goes early in the air when he bowls that delivery with the new ball; it just didn't move. Can't do much about that.
His logic was if you're going with Parnell, it's better to use him as a pinch-hitter early than waste him at the end. It wasn't about whether Parnell was good enough to be in the team or not.Imagine parnell coming to the crease to face Boult today when Amla went out...
fair enough. Just that I hate Tahir's celebrations so much I can't stand that man. But apparently he is a decent odi bowler (as OS said i will have to come to terms with it)."I'm worried about his variations" and "I'm worried about him because he has variations" aren't the same thing.
Yeah Parnell at 3 would've been a funky but interesting idea if he'd actually add anything to the bowling attack. I actually think he'd make the attack worse though and he's sure as hell not good enough to play as a specialist batsman.Yes it is. Parnell's rubbish.
Lol. Was imagining the same. Would've breached the level of stupidity.Imagine parnell coming to the crease to face Boult today when Amla went out...
Yeah his ODI record is ridiculously good. Lots of people thought he'd come unstuck in these conditions but he's been good in the WC too. Feel free to hate on him in Tests though.fair enough. yeah, that isn't such a bad strategy actually given that you have already picked himHis logic was if you're going with Parnell, it's better to use him as a pinch-hitter early than waste him at the end. It wasn't about whether Parnell was good enough to be in the team or not.
SA vs uaeWhich game was that? I don't even remember it and I haven't missed many games.
AgreedHe's also prone to random bits of insight I haven't considered though; Dravid hasn't really provided that so far in his commentary career. As I've got older I've been able to filter out stupid commentary as long as it's not repetitive; I'm just looking for how often someone says something that makes me reconsider my analysis of the game. Ganguly wins there.
Ganguly's stuck in 1998, clearly. His logic was if you're going with Parnell, it's better to use him as a pinch-hitter early than waste him at the end. It wasn't about whether Parnell was good enough to be in the team or not.
Pinch hitter vs uae fine. His logic was if you're going with Parnell, it's better to use him as a pinch-hitter early than waste him at the end. It wasn't about whether Parnell was good enough to be in the team or not.
