They've looked professional and disciplined, which to be honest is the main point where people have been criticising them
Yeah, this. They've had a talented bunch of players for quite a while now but seldom do they actually look like a functioning cricket side.

Unlike Bahnz though I'm not prepared to say this will be a breakout tournament. I've been burned too many times by too many false dawns. I remember having arguments on here with Richard about Bangladesh improving; they've always threatened with little moments such as this one.

Not exactly a little moment, though.

Well then neither was beating Australia in an ODI in 2005, or pushing them in a Test, or knocking out India in the 2007 World Cup, or going within a boundary of winning Asia Cup, or going within Daniel Vettori of being New Zealand in a Test series, or whitewashing NZ 5-0 in ODIs.

Every so often something good like this happens when they win an important match or play really well and they look like a proper team doing it. Then they'll turn around and be on the end of an embarrassing whitewash, or lose a series to Zimbabwe, or lose a tournament match to Ireland or Hong Kong. It's just what they've always done. I hope this isn't the case here but I've been burned too many times (see above) to not recognise the pattern and be sceptical until they sustain it.

The 2007 World Cup really is a great example -- they beat a top eight side in the early round to take their place in the final eight stage looked like a proper side in the process, which is exactly what they've done here. But in the next round they were embarrassing in several of their matches despite beating South Africa, and got flogged by Ireland.

That is just a ****y excuse. Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe is just a good team v subcontimental sides mostly. They even was amazing v Pakistan a year back at home.
What in the world? What does Zimbabwe have anything to do with England beating India in the tri-series earlier?

Not disagreeing with your general point, but they did beat South Africa in 07.

Haha all I can remember from that game is Syed Rasel getting Kallis out and the commentators going on about beating him for lack of pace. I couldn't even remember the result but I remembered that.

We were talking about India in Zimbabwe...
Um I was never talking about Zimbabwe? I commented on Zinzan's post about Indian fans being scared of England in the Quarters to which I replied that India weren't at full strength, after which you quoted me and said something about Zim. Maybe you quoted the wrong person possibly? lol

The phrase "useless, useless bastards" is much overused when discussing English sport, but I think one can safely say it applies here.
