What a game. So tense. When Southee was bowled I almost puked.

Boult and Starc absolutely outstanding. Starc looked like Wasim Akram at his best today.

Williamson an awesome innings under white hot pressure.

Dream big New Zealand. Are we the tournament favourites now?

Whenever someone says something like this I just feel it's because ball dominating the bat is rarer. Not necessarily because it's great to watch. I swear if we regularly got 150 vs 150 games, and suddenly one day we got a 350-350 thriller, we'd all be saying "See, bat dominating the ball is better.... needs to happen more". We just get desentisized to the norm, that's all.
Nah, I'm just predominantly a bowler and a fan of bowling. :P I just find more entertainment in good bowling as opposed to good batting.

Wow, what a **** game of cricket.
SA and India will take the most out of this.

Starc was awesome though. Plus McCullum & Vettori. While Kane was a good pro.

Most of the rest made my eyes bleed.

I was gonna say that after today's win NZ should consider anything less than a finals win a disappointment, but looking at how Aus got so close with no runs to defend you have to say they are still the faves.

Yeah, but the only way that NZ and Aus will play in the semis is if Aus drop a game to SRL, and no offense to maximas but that isn't going to happen.

there is no tournament favourite. if this game and south africa and india's demolition jobs of normal teams haven't made that clear...

Even though you edged the Aussies today,i think there are ominous signs that Australia could stamp their authority in this WC,maybe not dominate like previous Australian sides, but my money is absolutely on them to win back the WC title. They're wonderfully covered in every department.

Im so annoyed that i cant help but rate starc now. What a fun, just as good as southee vs england.
yeah i was really hoping he would be a spud all along because his face and an old poster annoy me but he's really good.

we should all name our kids mitchell because the name seems to make good left arm ODI pacemen.

I'm still in doubt about cummins honestly. He's been all over the shop today, and probably got away with more than few short wide rankers just due to match situation.

Hopefully johnson comes good as well. Seems to have no good answer to a person using his feet against him, which is admittedly a rare sight.

Australia are still slight statistical favourites to win the WC, but I think SA, NZ or SA could easily win it.

edit: sa, nz and india I mean

Anderson really should get a spray for his dismissal in the dressing room tonight. It was such a casual, "well the games over so I might as well try slogging the spinner for 6" shot. It just opened up the door for Australia, and even though things shouldn't ever have gotten as close as they did, it still doesn't excuse such a lazy shot in a live game.

Having said that the same could be said for pretty much all of our lower middle order. Ronchi out trying to ramp one that was way too close to him, Milne and Southee both bowled playing expansive drives to the swinging ball, it was a really panicked finish from NZ.

some seriously sour puss posting from some of the neutrals in this thread. come on that was a great game of ODI bowling with a couple of batsmen showing their stuff.

what joke should i make first though? maybe to ask where the eden park short boundary haters are at? where they at???
People just said that there'd be at least 300 scored, and there was!

Can't believe how similar each innings was on the scorecard, even to the point of the Boult & Starc picking up 5-fers & Southee & Johnson getting tap.
