SA learnt this from india tbh. Our strategy of being cautious for the first half of the innings paid off with huge first innings scores because strokeplayers like Rahane and Raina had the freedom to go out there and cream everything.
It's been the accepted method by everyone for years.

Yes, it's becoming every team's strategy. SL did the same vs Ban yesterday. The only diff was SA went even slower than Ind/SL did in their games. AB is going at 200 SR so it matters little.

These strike rate for last 10, last 5, etc are really interesting. Wish Cricinfo would make their ball by ball data public the selfish ****s.

Every time AB scores a run Burgey tastes. Forever. Same with the other plebs who didn't rate him.

Because Burgey et al have long called him out for being unable to score runs in a pool match with a good platform against a terrible Windies attack?

Love how AB is an inspiration to blokes in their 20's with international centuries.

Yeah bt tbf AB was a downhill skiier for a while. It wasn't really a criticism but an observation that many of his runs (not all, but plenty) came in soft situations. He put that to bed a long time ago though and anyone who's still an AB-denier is nuts.

Also, average vs West Indies:

ODIs, Border: 40 AB: 84
Tests Border: 28 AB: 72

Game set match.

king cricket pointed out before the tourney that if you do get SA 4 down the batting order 'soon gets a bit Berhardien'. Easier said than done, like, but a valid point

Eight years ago AB hit a World Cup 100 against the Windies in 114 balls opening the batting. Today he hit a World Cup 100 against the Windies in 52 balls batting at five. Complete player.
