This fawning over Chelsea's selling has to stop btw. Of course they can sell fringe players for big money, they literally use about 15 all season. As it was Schürrle is 24, was their first choice replacement if either Hazard or Willian got injured and 2nd choice if either of Oscar or Costa got injured, and would pretty much always come on as a sub every game. It's the equivalent of Arsenal flogging Walcott/Wilshere/Chamberlain, or Liverpool with Lallana, City with Navas, United with Herrera/Mata/etc. People honestly think none of those players would fetch a fee as high as Schürrle's? I reckon Arsenal could sell one of those three to Liverpool or City for something silly, some people think they will with Walcott. I mean, they've made some good sales sure, but only Luiz was actually a bad buy. All the rest were fair prices for good players, who weren't quite first choice, but would get regular game time for a similar level side that wasn't full of robot men who didn't get tired or injured.

Anyway, apologies for the rant. Lets see what opinion is after the CL knockouts.

Great window, got rid of the mercenaries like Fletcher, and in bringing in a left back, strengthened the position where we've failed to plan for the future.

Also Zaha move now permanent, talk of never being given a chance. Obviously didn't shift as many shirts as Dong Fangzhuo

This transfer deadline day **** has got out of hand. Two big transfers (Quadrado and Schürrle) and people are moaning about how boring it is. If you're bored it's your fault for getting really excited about Monday because Sky told you to.
Yeah, Paul Sarahs made a similar point on World Football Phone-in this week. Basically said that there was loads of actual sport on Monday, and that if people wanted something to get excited about they should perhaps try watching it rather than getting sucked into the media circus that is transfer deadline day.

Agree with a lot of this but the thing that still gets me as that they are selling these guys for a profit. They should be making a loss on at least a few of these.

Does LVG really think you don't need any quality defenders? It just seems bizarre.

£22m is a fair price for Schurrle. But generally speaking they have been owning at transfers for the last year and a bit. Great deals on Luiz, Mata, Lukaku, Matic, Costa, and Fabregas. It's depressing, especially when United's transfer dealings are such a sack of ****, but there's no point pretending it isn't the case.

Not sure, but since they've only got him on loan that would seem a bit odd.
They were loaning out a player to Bolton, and since that would have left the U21s desperately short of players they agreed to send someone the other way.

Was talking to a mate about Balotelli and whether he's in the Last Chance Saloon. If he fails here who is dumb enough to give him another chance? Guy is done imo.

Either a manager with a massive ego like Rodgers or some dumb **** Russian mob with more money than sense.

Either that or he'll do a Cassano. Get his **** together at a middling club lime Fiorentina or Parma and kickstart the whole circus again.
