Whether that 3 meter rule one of Vettori's was out or not, it's the ICC who introduced that rule, not the umpires, so can't see how a conspiracy can be claimed for that.
It's obvz just wrong calls and **** luck, I'm not saying conspiracy.:p

Poor Chandimal, he can't catch a break. Well, it could be a finger break I guess.

To be fair on the Lankans that non-LBW looked even more plumb than the infamous Morrison/McDermott & the Cairns/Langer ones.

Btw does the start of Guptill's "go slow at the start" phase coincide with the introduction of two new balls? Because he always used to bat at a decent clip from ball one then get out between 40-70. Now he either scores 20 (45) or tons up.

Not sure, when were new balls at each end introduced remembering Guppy's been striking at about 68-70 as opposed to his career SR of around 82 in the last 12 months.

Nah, the Vettori decision was just a result of the way the DRS rules are set up. They have no more reason to feel pissed about that than they do about an umpire's call lbw review.
DRS in general has turned out to be a farce. It was supposed to eliminate blunders and remove ambiguity, but it seems to create those things as often as it fixes them.

It's a long way from perfect, but it still eliminates more 'shockers' than prior to DRS regardless of what anyone wants to claim. The biggest problem for me is captains too often waste reviews on tight ones & hence often lose them when the shocker comes.

Rubbish, there will always be limitations so you are bound to have situations where the limits of the technologies make it hard to accurately adjudicate, however the likelihood of getting the right decision has increased massively overall. There are rules and limits but just because some people don't like them it doesn't mean the system itself is flawed.

Our first look at them was against England in the 2013 home summer iirc.
Could be something in that then. And would be interesting to look at stats across the board whether teams generally score less of the first 10 overs since the introduction.

I suppose the other thing is it's probably the opposite in the subcontinent on slow wickets in which the new ball is often the best time to score runs.

Agreed up to a point. If clear cut opportunities are lost because senior batsmen often want two bites of the cherry, is it really working as intended? I don't know what the solution is to that.

Plus it just isn't as infallible as people assumed it would be - we seem to be debating as many ambiguous calls as ever. And don't get me started on Hawkeye.

Have to disagree with that part, we're generally only debating the very close ones.
