Watling unlucky not be in the frame, but his SR isn't great either. Munro just not an international player IMO, Neesham has an even worse LO batting record and Franklin even at his supposed batting peak was too unreliable. At worst, Latham is about as good as those options.I would have selected the likes of Munro (average 28 SR 99) or Watling (if they needed a back-up keeper which I don't think they needed to as part of the 15) ahead of Latham. Even the likes of Franklin or Neesham would be better middle order players, assuming Latham & Eliiott are competing for the no 5 spot.
Latham is also covering opener and number 3, which none of those guys can cover.Watling unlucky not be in the frame, but his SR isn't great either. This is the part that peeves me off about Taylor. He DOES NOT have to play that ugly hoick to cow corner. If he sticks with his drives, pulls and cuts he'll be fine. He'll get his 50 off 65 odd, anchor the innings and then he can cut loose.Clearly Taylor was in a "I want to break free" mode today & actually played some lovely strokes. Just a shame he went a little overboard & was overly reckless in the end.
Test cricket, I agree...but Munro smacks as an absolute ODI specialist for mine. And the last time I looked 28 @ 98 is somewhat better than 24 @ 71Watling unlucky not be in the frame, but his SR isn't great either. Munro just not an international player IMO,
Nah, at his peak Franklin scored 4 consecutive 50s (including a 100) IIRC (or something like that vs India a few years back), but granted Franko and Neesham's records aren't great, but I could see at least see them scoring more quickly than Latham, but agree they're probably a much and a muchness. But def Munro & Watling would be better than Latham currently is in the middle.Neesham has an even worse LO batting record and Franklin even at his supposed batting peak was too unreliable. Yeah, this. Looked like Lanka wanted to play him back into form by bowling Thirimanne, Was a golden opportunity to play the KW role. This is the part that peeves me off about Taylor. His non-Bangladesh average is 16 though.Test cricket, I agree...but Munro smacks as an absolute ODI specialist for mine. And the last time I looked 28 @ 98 is somewhat better than 2
His batting is making it frustratingly difficult to dislike him.Great batting by Ronchi. Regardless of the match situation, a pie is a pie and it's great to see him putting them away.
Fair enough...always distorted when it's only 5-6 innings. I really liked the 57 off 62 he scored in SA a year or so back. His non-Bangladesh average is 16 though.
We could use a Bangladesh specialist actually. His non-Bangladesh average is 16 though.
That's a fair point considering we've struggled more against them than any other side in the world away from home in the last 4 years or so..We could use a Bangladesh specialist actually.
Beadle theory. If Thirrimane is taking wickets, can I come across to NZ and play some international cricket?
