Jadeja out will be lucky to play the world cup at this stage, shoulder problems.India may play 7 batsmen, unless Ashwin at 7.

Oops i forgot Binny at 7,can he be trusted to bat at 7 or even bowl.I guess swinging conditions, but on a road or bouncy pitches his bowling will be toast, even Usman Khajah can bowl faster than Binny.

Gurinder sandhu and Kane Richardson added to the squad for the tri series.

With Johnson still resting his hammy and hazlewood possibly rested after the rest series we might see the big man given a chance.

I'm very glad the selectors didn't pick Cameron White, despite his recent strong performances, because after 2 and a bit years of being in amazing form it looks like he has completely lost it. In all honesty he should have been one of the first picked for Australia in ODIs and T20s for the last 2 years but was never given a chance. However if they had selected him now it would have been ugly.

Their batting is equally crap.
It would have to be a 8th dimension of crap to fail against Indian bowling based on the pitches we've seen all summer.

Right now England are probably only in the 6th, they should enjoy the conditions but the spinners are probably going to be the key for India.

Spinners have always been the key for India in ODIs, especially under MSD who loves operating with slow bowlers. Considering that the WC is being played at the tail end of the long cricketing summer down under, I expect the pitches to assist spinners a bit more than what they usually do in months of Dec or Jan.

England are probably 9th dimension of crap when it comes to batting in ODIs. The've chopped and changed their top 3 for over a year now and are yet to figure out who would open the batting. Since beginning of 2013, they won just one ODI series against a test playing nation out of seven. Their batting is heavily reliant on Joe Root while others have been crap.

England's batting is always good for 250 outside Asia against good bowling teams. It has been their game plan for years - Trott/Cook/someone bats through and Morgan/the hitters go bang at the end - 250 posted - Anderson/Broad/Finn/Swann/Tredwell/Others rip the oppo out.

England will probably be 30 runs short enough times in this series and the World Cup to ensure disappointment, but they will win some games. India's bowling is definitely bad enough for Morgan/Moeen and even the anchors like Bell and Root to get hold of and post 280+. India's spinners will get destroyed. England have the bowling to defend 300 from India in Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand dealt India a 4-0 defeat last summer with a similar team structure to England, and a leaky fifth bowler for Kohli and Dhoni to smash. New Zealand just kept taking wickets and McCullum/Anderson kept launching from the platform set by Guptill/Ryder/Williamson/Taylor.

You need not go as far as previous NZ summer. England were thrashed in their own den 6 months back by India. The English batting line-up, that you consider to be good enough to get 250 outside Asia, managed to score 250 or more only once in four attempts. This after they had humiliated India in the test series.

Good to see Broad and Anderson back bowling. Looked to be some pretty considerable turn on the highlights for Ali and Tredwell.

Doesn't binny average that low because he played on a ridiculously seaming pitch against bangladesh and got figures of 6/4?

It was a world of difference having Trott and old Cook though. We don't have anyone of that calibre at the moment. Lack of top order runs has been a huge issue for the last year or so and is the main difference between the side that was really good from 2011 to 2013 and the side that hasn't won a series since the Champions Trophy.

Bhuvi, Ishant and Shammi isn't actually that bad a bowling attack, we're gonna miss Jadeja big time for his all round skills but hopefully Akshar patel can fill in for us. The thing I'm worried the most about is our #4, seriously we're gonna give Rayudu an extended run at that position in a WC?

If this was in Asia then Jadeja would be a huge loss, but I don't think he's the most important player here. India need a fast bowler or three to step up.

@ cabi - yeah fair. English ODI sides always look better on paper than they do in reality. Still though, despite the inexperience of Moeen and Taylor and the limitations of Bell it's a reasonable and well balanced top three. It might be a World Cup cycle too early for your batsmen though.
