Herath over the wicket=massive moral victory.

I remember a similar point last year, where I suddenly thought ****, we're actually on top now.

Unreal batting.

This is actually declaration bowling now.

Screw them don't give them an inch. Set them 450 for all I care. They're not trying to get a wicket so they can stay out there all day.

Superb session that one - put on 120 runs at 4.14 without a wicket going down.

But again, that tells you that batting here can be pretty easy and not to discount how many runs you'll need.

Hmm leaning towards making a statement here. Destroy them. Bat for three days or declare 9 down. The series is won and Sri Lanka have all but given up, hoping their batting can do the business. 1-0 still takes us to 5th if it comes to it.

Declare New Zealand our fortress.

34 overs left today. 20 overs for 100 and then declare?
Yeah, I still like the idea of 10-15 overs tonight, come back tomorrow when the ball should still be new enough to be impactful and know that you've got one final crack later in the day with the second new ball.

There would be another triple century possible.

Also, how good do the Windies and Pakistan wins against us look now? No one can get past BJ Watling. He did this in South Africa too but kept running out of partners.

Yeah, wouldn't think of declaring any sooner than an hour into day 5. Secure the series first and foremost.

lol, Sad what lengths people now have to take to include Taylor in the ATG NZ side.

Personally, I'd have Fleming ahead of Taylor for his captaincy

1. Sutcliffe
2. Richardson
3. Williamson
4. Crowe
5. Fleming *
6. Cairns
7. McCullum (k)
8. Vettori

Gotta bat through the day IMO. Declare overnight if you must, but chances for a pairing to bat through the day are slim at best, and I doubt 10 extra overs on top of tomorrow is likely to force a result. Either Sri Lanka collapse in 50-60 overs after spending all this time in the field, or they comfortably bat through the final day IMO.

Turner and Taylor non-negotiables imo. Reid at #6, Baz or Watling at #7. Jack Cowie and Bruce Taylor to partner Hadlee and Bond.

Then you only get 10 overs with the second new ball. I'd want at least 20. As we've seen, 20 overs with a new ball with our bowling attack can mean 4 wickets if the ball is swinging.

My username should tell you I'm a Fleming man but he's not a better player than Taylor.

You're a long lost cause though so whatever.

edit: where the **** is Turner?

Can't believe you lot aren't fussed about a test win. Poverty mentality, will forever be outside the top four in the test rankings.
