Gee Herath's good, that arm ball nearly did it, even day, match balanced pretty firmly in our favour, satisfied

End of day 3 in Wellington and BJ Watling + AN Other are getting stuck into a heroic rearguard. Think we know how this ones plays out guys. What are my odds on Kane's triple thousand kilograms?

Haha was wincing every delivery for the last 20 overs or so. Phew. Baby steps tomorrow.

Not sure what I'm more surprised at, that we batted out the day only 5 wickets down, or that we did it with a RR of 2.50.

So we've now essentially faced the same number of overs as Sri Lanka did for their 356 runs. Really accentuates the freebies NZ gave away with the field-sets and bowling.

Na, we bolted down the hatches and Sanga upped the run rate with the tail.
Their innings was pretty representative of a modern Test run rate.

I expect if McCullum or Taylor stuck around we'd have finished the day with more runs due to their natural game being a bit more aggressive than Kane or Watling's.

I love McCullum's captaincy, but his field-sets & general tactics were poor in SL's innings regardless of how you spin it.

Good fight from KSW and BJW. SBW not involved. Guess if they keep going at this rate (2.5), NZ need to bat for another 70 overs, which would give SL a target around 300 with around 110 overs to get them. Very gettable if we don't bowl so great. But enough to suggest we have a good chance. That's my thinking at the moment - will need to bat for at least the first two sessions tomorrow, and try our best to get around 300 ahead.

I'm predicting we set a target of 261.
And do you think that would be enough? I'd suggest it might be, but would love if we could set around 320. Just sounds tougher. Largely depends on Sanga if they are chasing over 250 (pretty obvious that).
